John Daly is/was the Babe Ruth of golf. He's done but he has a thing at the Hooters in Augusta every Masters tournament. It's not much of a brag. I'm not 100% going so it's been more of a US election thing...smoke and mirrors

This is a total solar eclipse, not a partial like in October. The last total solar eclipse anywhere in the mainland US was 2017, and before that was 1979 (barely touched the northeast)! There won't be another one in mainland US until 2044 (in Montana and the Dakotas only).

In Texas, it has been more than a century since we have had a total solar eclipse. The last is technically in 1919, but it was an annular solar eclipse (the moon is in its closest orbital pattern to the sun and doesn't have totality like a total solar eclipse).

In short, it is a very rare occurrence and no one alive has ever seen one in the state of Texas. Im in my early 40s and have only experienced the 2017 even in my lifetime. It is a fascinating event and something that will be memorable to you and your family and help us all put down our devices and get outdoors and experience a very rare event!

I took this video of the 2017 eclipse in Wyoming from my drone. It's a 360 so you can scroll around and see in any direction. This eclipse was about 2.5 mins. The one coming up with be over 4 mins. Hope it's not too cloudy.

uh, no... blue is cloud cover. See the scale at the bottom which shows % cloud cover

I'm gonna take the opposite view of you. I see what you are saying of the 0-100 percent scale, but it does not say "cloud cover." I think it is pretty obvious, based on every weather map I have ever looked at in my 56 years, that the white is clouds, and the blue is "clear." I do not have any dog in this fight though, and am open to be wrong. That said, I cannot imagine that this map would show the reverse of everything we have ever seen and known about weather. Maybe it's just me thought?

However, if clouds are thin or relatively high in the sky, a spectacular show is still possible.

So you are right, and in my opinion, pivotal weather people are stupid.

Never trust a cloud cover forecast 9 days in the future (or a fart).

I know it seems backwards but the upper left label says cloud cover %

From elsewhere on the pivotal weather site, they have other forecast models including the NWS model, which integrates data from the other models.

It will be over in a day or two, no need to go crazy over it.. locals will have plenty of food for 2 days .. just deal with a few rough days and it will go back to normal pretty quick .. that' would be my take .. or just leave town early and go west away from all the coming traffic

A little early to worry much. Pick 3 long term models and monitor. Pick 3 short term models (3 day) and montior… if the short term models agree, it's time for concern. ECMWF, ICON, GFS, NAM, HRRR

Hadn't thought about Niagara Falls being in the path. That would be pretty cool but not with a million people hanging around.

I live 2-2.5 hours west of the path. We are supposed to have 94.5% coverage of the sun for about 4 minutes. A friend of mine is pulling his kids out of school and headed east to see the total eclipse. It's a bucket list thing for him.

Is a 2.5 he drive worth the extra 5.5%? If I go, I'm parking on some FM road in the middle of nowhere, not going to fight traffic for 4 minutes
