But they won't survive the later revisions. Check back in April for the real numbers.

Lets not forget that layoffs were up ~140% last month too with ~85k...I'll wait for the revision

My question is how many of those jobs are part time that are being taken by people who already have a full time job ? ? ?

Yesterday one of my friends from Phoenix flew to Houston for a job interview. He's 78 and having to go back to work. Joe Biden is a piece of human garbage which is an insult to garbage.

That January number was pure bulls*** and everybody knew it. The department wanted a headline to give Biden a talking point. No way that can be off that much and it not be intentional.

This. Radio news brief mentioned that the number included government jobs. Personally don't think these should be included .

The only two sectors job growth is up is government and healthcare....which is essentially propped up by the government. There is no private sector job growth. Every business I know of is in a hiring freeze.

From the BLS:

Quote:

Government employment rose by 52,000 in February, about the same as the prior 12-month

average gain (+53,000).

53,000 gov jobs added per MONTH average. That is just an absolutely mind numbing figure.

Average federal employee makes 88k...that's $56 billion per year in added payroll expense. Add in bene's and pension and you're over $100 billion per year in added expense/liability.

Good lord.... results of public education on display

Savings get depleted due to inflation
Pre-planned retirement gets depleted due to inflation and taxes, etc.

This isn't rocket surgery.

He did save. He isn't irresponsible, he's a victim, as is every American of inflation destroying buying power. Here's how retirement works. You get SS and make withdrawals from your retirement accounts monthly. 99% of retired Americans have to stick to their predetermined monthly withdrawal. When the president creates inflation that crushes working and retired Americans you can either go without or create some income. He's merely reacting to the disastrous period working and retired Americans are being subjected to.

Notice the number of Jimmy John's drivers that are 75 or 80 years old.

Serious question. What phase of life are you in? If you're retirement age I can't believe you would ask such a stupid question. If you're not prepare for a rude awakening.

And SS received cost of living adjustments so there was an increase. This board is bipolar. If this story came from an article you would be saying the idiot didn't save enough and is relying on the government. Since it's your friend, you have found anything possible to blame besides your friend.

I am not retirement age and I am making sure that I don't end up like your irresponsible friend.

Not everyone has the millions you have. When you retire you have what you have. When an idiot that hates Americans worse than anything in the world has control you have to either do without or get some more money. Perhaps he could do like the Biden family and not pay his taxes as that would give him more money. Probably not advisable because he probably isn't above the law.

Average SS check in America is about $1700/month. What kind of loser can't live on that. Do you know how much money 2% of $1700 is?

No kidding. How much have monthly expenses gone up in the last 2 years? How much $ does a retired couple spend on food in a month? $1000, maybe? Now $1300? Is that few thousand a year that big a difference?

Take a look at the "real inflation" rate, not the officially announced one. Remember the $5 menu at fast food joints? The one that now costs closer to $15? You didn't answer any of Jed's questions. So I suspect you are barely out of college if at all. Sit down and do a budget based on your current income and then double the price of groceries and transportation, raise your medical insurance by 50%, and see whether your income covers your budget.

When you are living on savings, you can't afford to "just take out more" if you plan for them to be your main income source for the rest of your life. You have to stick to that budgeted amount you saved for or you will deplete your savings long term and come up short later in life when you are least equipped to be able to go get more income.

It isn't about what total amount they have left in their savings account. It is about what their budgeted monthly income from those savings was planned to be for the duration of their life after retirement. Sure, you can take a few thousand more out each year, but now instead of your savings lasting until you are 90, they last until you are 85...or 80. And if you are 70 now, you can hope you die before 80, or you can go get another job to make up the difference. If you wait until your savings are gone at 80 or 85 and then figure out you need to get a job to make ends meet, good luck finding somebody that is willing to hire you.

I get it, I'm planning on having more than enough to cover myself for such situations...which means I'm likely not retiring any earlier than 68.
