He NEVER lost me. I am an evangelical christian. In 2020, Trump received over 80% of the white evangelical vote. I appreciate what he has done for christians and the church. He is a modern day Cyrus.
- what church does he go to? How often does he go?
- Does he tithe?
- you saw where he can't even name a favorite bible verse?
- you heard the clip where he talked about grabbing women by their privates and that he just kisses women he finds attractive?
- you are aware he had sex with a porn star when his wife just had a pregnancy and had to pay her off to try and keep her quiet?
- you are aware that he had been adjudicated by a jury of raping a woman?
- you are of numerous other accusations of impropriety with other women?
- He has a widespread reputation of stiffing and having bad business ethics. What does the bible say about business ethics?
How on Earth is this man a hero to evangelical Christians?
All of that is clearly covered in Two Corinthians, Mister Falcon!!!!
This is a great analogy, but I view Trump as the talented striker that the other team knows that all one of their guys has to do is insult him, and he will abandon his team and forget about the ball, instead focusing on the guy that insulted him.Phatbob said:
He definitely lost me in 2020, but he started losing my vote then, too. I genuinely don't think we will be in a better place in 20 years if he gets in office. Yes, he is theoretically better than Biden on policy positions, but he also is like the kid who is going to score goals in his own team because he gets turned around. His weaknesses are such that we are probably better on defense than on offense when he has the ball.
Never voting for a Democrat, but also not going to vote for Trump.
that's why I used the adjective, loudly. He made all the difference. All those you name stand with him.BigRobSA said:Texas velvet maestro said:

Trump used to be the bulwark against that. He spoke many a truth that was not allowed to be told. Now, he and his supporters have shown themselves blatantly willing to lie and fabricate recent history that everyone remembers in order to win.
I and many others find it very insulting when we are told to put up with lies, insults, and mockery. You might as well ask me to vote for the Democrats.
The only rationalization I can think of is they like him for appointing justices to overturn RvW. Otherwise the cult mindset kicks in and they have to dismiss all of these things as a conspiracy witch hunt to take him down or something.GeorgiAg said:I don't understand this.agape79 said:

Chaos and rage follow Trump everywhere he goes. He's always been slimy, unethical, and cruel. There are only so many excuses one can make for him.
The evangelical love for Trump is idolatry of the highest order. He's consistently praised as heroic and even godlike. This also ties in to Christian Nationalism that has become prevalent in evangelical churches--that is, seeing nationalism and faith intertwined and idolizing the United States as a whole. Disliking Trump is seen as equivalent to rejecting God and the Gospel. In some churches, if a member dislikes Trump, they are criticized and rejected by the rest of the congregation.
Trump saw red meat in this group of people and capitalized on it hard, and he's been very successful.
It's really been a sad sight to behold. We could write so many books on this topic. Many already have been written.

You couldn't pay me to vote for Trump again. I happily voted for him twice, but as he has gotten older he's just gone off the deep end. He was great for the country in 2016, but I don't think he would be great for the country in 2024. If he wins, great - it'll be another entertaining **** show. If not then we'll just need to keep the House or Senate another 4 years and we'll survive. If we don't manage that then burn, baby burn...

I don't think Biden would be a better choice. But I won't vote for either of them. I think the only way this country gets better is if it hits rock bottom (and we're not there yet). So, yeah...burn baby burn. After that then people might stop voting like sheep for whatever candidate has the appropriate R or D next to their name.TAMUallen said:javajaws said:

Tell me how you think Biden would a superior choice and why, with any logic, you think that it is better to have the country "burn, baby burn"?

I don't follow. Do you not think Trump is irrational and therefore would not vote for himself?
Or maybe you're saying that Trump isn't a rational adult therefore you won't vote for him…which would help Biden win the presidency. I guess Biden is the rational adult you prefer. Bold choice.

Be firmly against the current admin and rake them over the coals while also being positive about what a 2nd term under him would look like and how he needs everybody to get there. A vote for Trump in the primary is a vote for Biden in the General Election. He is going to lose. NH exit polls exposed how weak he is.

Exit polls show Haley is significantly more attractive to moderates and independents. And if MAGA and DeSantis supporters really put their money where their mouths are, they'd still vote for her, too. Anyone but a Dem, right? She's the most straight-line path to a GOP victory with the possibility of voting for Rs down ballot instead of against them.jwhaby said:rathAG05 said:jwhaby said:rathAG05 said:jwhaby said:

Got it. You don't think Trump can beat Biden. Do you know that Haley can? If you don't actually know? Then it's sounds like you're guessing on both fronts. Also, I don't know that I would solely focus on NH exit polls as a proxy for what will happen in any election. Maybe you have some historical data that shows a strong correlation. I don't keep track of that stuff.
