Congrats, you've reduced your vote for President of the United States down to "this pile of dog crap stinks less than that other pile of dog crap, so I guess it should run the Free World!".

Are you new to our country?

When he spent less time being presidential and more time acting like Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.

But in a likely losing effort, I will vote for him as the nominee.

ETA: Why do I think he will lose? As I said in another thread, I was prepared to vote FOR DeSantis. I will now be voting AGAINST Biden. On the aggregate, that is not a strong postition to be in.

Looks like I will have to vote for the loud mouth yankee again. I am voting Republican no matter who they put on the ticket. Amazing that we cannot find anyone in America that is more qualified.

We did.

But nobody calculated the sheer amount of braindead dip****tery that abounds in the GOP.

He NEVER lost me. I am an evangelical christian. In 2020, Trump received over 80% of the white evangelical vote. I appreciate what he has done for christians and the church. He is a modern day Cyrus.
I don't understand this.

  • what church does he go to? How often does he go?
  • Does he tithe?
  • you saw where he can't even name a favorite bible verse?
  • you heard the clip where he talked about grabbing women by their privates and that he just kisses women he finds attractive?
  • you are aware he had sex with a porn star when his wife just had a pregnancy and had to pay her off to try and keep her quiet?
  • you are aware that he had been adjudicated by a jury of raping a woman?
  • you are of numerous other accusations of impropriety with other women?
  • He has a widespread reputation of stiffing and having bad business ethics. What does the bible say about business ethics?

How on Earth is this man a hero to evangelical Christians?

All of that is clearly covered in Two Corinthians, Mister Falcon!!!!
Oh and I also forgot

  • his opinion and treatment of the disabled (making fun of the gimp reporter by mimicking his disability), POW, - McCain and others, not wanting to go to a cemetery of the fallen, not being pictured with injured servicemen. That is not even remotely Christ-like

He definitely lost me in 2020, but he started losing my vote then, too. I genuinely don't think we will be in a better place in 20 years if he gets in office. Yes, he is theoretically better than Biden on policy positions, but he also is like the kid who is going to score goals in his own team because he gets turned around. His weaknesses are such that we are probably better on defense than on offense when he has the ball.

Never voting for a Democrat, but also not going to vote for Trump.
This is a great analogy, but I view Trump as the talented striker that the other team knows that all one of their guys has to do is insult him, and he will abandon his team and forget about the ball, instead focusing on the guy that insulted him.

As a result, opportunities are missed to win the game.

I and many others find it very insulting when we are told to put up with lies, insults, and mockery. You might as well ask me to vote for the Democrats.

The only rationalization I can think of is they like him for appointing justices to overturn RvW. Otherwise the cult mindset kicks in and they have to dismiss all of these things as a conspiracy witch hunt to take him down or something.

Chaos and rage follow Trump everywhere he goes. He's always been slimy, unethical, and cruel. There are only so many excuses one can make for him.

The evangelical love for Trump is idolatry of the highest order. He's consistently praised as heroic and even godlike. This also ties in to Christian Nationalism that has become prevalent in evangelical churches--that is, seeing nationalism and faith intertwined and idolizing the United States as a whole. Disliking Trump is seen as equivalent to rejecting God and the Gospel. In some churches, if a member dislikes Trump, they are criticized and rejected by the rest of the congregation.

Trump saw red meat in this group of people and capitalized on it hard, and he's been very successful.

It's really been a sad sight to behold. We could write so many books on this topic. Many already have been written.

You couldn't pay me to vote for Trump again. I happily voted for him twice, but as he has gotten older he's just gone off the deep end. He was great for the country in 2016, but I don't think he would be great for the country in 2024. If he wins, great - it'll be another entertaining **** show. If not then we'll just need to keep the House or Senate another 4 years and we'll survive. If we don't manage that then burn, baby burn...

I'm tired of the attacks at people that could vote for him. I wish he'd be a little less yankee blowhard and more self aware. I don't think Biden would be a better choice. But I won't vote for either of them. I think the only way this country gets better is if it hits rock bottom (and we're not there yet). So, yeah...burn baby burn. After that then people might stop voting like sheep for whatever candidate has the appropriate R or D next to their name.

I think you're exaggerating how many diehard supporters Trump had. There were people who voted for him and people who liked him punching back at the left, but a lot of people who felt that way also had reservations about him.

I never much liked or respected him. For a while, I tolerated his many failings by focusing on what I perceived as a genuine love for America and willingness to take the fight to the left.

I was already holding my nose when I voted for him the first time.

Over the course of his presidency, his horrible discipline, bad leadership, and poor communication eroded what remaining faith I had in his executive competence.

He "lost" me for good, where I no longer believed that any true love for America he has can ever outweigh his own petty grievances, during the Georgia Senate runoff.

I've come to believe he's truly the worst possible R candidate to be POTUS. And I absolutely hate the fact that I'm going to be stuck voting for him again for a third time.

Truly mind boggling how bad these two candidates are.

This is where I am. I like a lot of Trump's ideals, but sometimes not his personality or brashness. Wish he had been more persuasive when he had the chance in his first term and got more stuff passed into law...

I don't however think DeSantis is better. He talks a good game with Trump's gameplan, but I think DeSantis would just become another RINO mostly in DC...They would break him down...

So I would vote for Trump just because he is the least worst option right now.

Exit polls show Haley is significantly more attractive to moderates and independents. And if MAGA and DeSantis supporters really put their money where their mouths are, they'd still vote for her, too. Anyone but a Dem, right? She's the most straight-line path to a GOP victory with the possibility of voting for Rs down ballot instead of against them.
