If Lucas and really all of the original story contributors were not such cowards they would stand up to this woman and Kennedy and set the record straight about their legacy and cinematic history.

There was only one character in the original trilogy that was a leader in the rebellion fighting against the empire and standing up to Darth Vader and every other dark force villain thereafter from Act 1 all the way to the end.

Han Solo was a criminal that avoided and ran from authority until there was no other choice.
Obi Wan Kenobi was in hiding from Vader and the Empire for 20 years.
Luke Skywalker didn't become a leader until the final act of New Hope, but really didn't become a commanding leader until Return of the Jedi.


This is the only character that acted in defiance toward the Empire and Vader from the first Act of New Hope all the way through every version of the Empire in all movies where they were a character.

Princess Leia. The primary female character in the franchise, who is one of the strongest female characters in cinematic history.

As already mentioned. Ridley Scott also created a strong female character that kicked ass. Her name was Ripley.

These new women in cinema and the journalists that cover film do the late Fisher, Weaver, Scott, and Lucas a disservice by acting as if strong females have not existed in sci-fi cinema for nearly 50 years at this point.

Princess Leia choked out Jabba the Hutt with the chain being used on her as his slave for goodness sakes. Lucas created a a female character that kicked ass without even having special powers.

Disney is being run by a bunch of imbeciles that don't even know strong female stories when they are right in front of theor faces for 50 years.

This is exactly what has happened to the franchise.

The first one was a good introduction, the second one was outstanding, and the rest started to go downhill, at first slowly, and then they went into hyper drive of failure.

I'm totally out of this discussion. Saw Star Wars once when it came out, then maybe parts of it a few times throughout the years on TV -- never the whole thing. Never really got into it or understood it. Haven't seen any se/prequel since. Not even the least bit interested. I wouldn't know Obi One from Bank One.

You guys will have to fight this out.

It would work out IF they appealed to the nerds who want to watch them. Put a few scantily clad women running around and have some epic light saber fights and you would sell some tickets.

Issue is that these women don't know their audience and therefore <insert huge fart noise>.

A couple of years ago, I saw a magazine cover at the grocery store declaring that Queen Latifah was "breaking new ground" as a black woman on TV -- 50+ years after Diahann Carroll starred in her own self-titled sitcom playing a nurse (the first non-stereotypical leading role for a black woman).

The latest Marvel film with the all female leads bombed. As I understand it, it was the worst financially performing film in the entire MCU going back to its inception in 2008 (nearly 30 films total).

As I pointed out on the other board, you created a big budget super hero movie starring pretty much all females. You marketed in to girls/women. And it bombed, badly. Like epic fail.

The problem with TLJ wasn't that it was woke (it wasn't, especially), it just sucked and was all over the place and basically tore down everything the first sequel was setting up, which is real bad for trying to make a coherent trilogy. Still can't believe they went in knowing it was going to be three movies and just figured they'd wing it each time instead of settling on a story arc in advance and building around that.
