Desantis actually has a ground game and is quite visible on the trail. Trump is/has none of those things.

Desantis has a solid, conservative record and is a proven leader. Trump isn't any of that.

I believe the GOP is smarter than giving the Dems a gimme by selecting a losing liberal lIke Trump. Maybe that's misplaced trust.

Well I intend to vote for Desantis in the primary, but unless we're getting a lot of bad information, he's not gonna make it.
And ETA: I'm not sure the GOP is smarter

We're not getting information, though. To date, it's all polls, which are literally made-up fodder for tards. Zero actual elections. Those are the only "polls" that mean anything.

Ok Rob, but you better pace yourself and brace yourself.

Thanks, I'm good. I'm too busy working, to make money, to pay for all the overpriced **** that Trump's and Biden's fiscal liberalism caused.

Just say "No!" to liberals.

I'm gonna say no to them with my one vote. It's all I got.

It is time for Generation X to run this country. It's well past time for the Boomers to go on permanent vacation and for Y and Z to see that X knows what it's doing.

My peer group finds it absolutely amazing that we are heading in to a national election and the most likely scenario is that two geriatrics are going head to head. This is the really the best we can do? This is the best we have to offer? What does the rest of the world even think looking at this sh** show?

The 2024 Election should be Gavin Newsom vs. Ron DeSantis. Even Newsom vs. Haley. Or Newsom vs. DeSantis/Haley. This election should pit California/New York against Texas/Florida. Republicans and Democrats should be demanding this. Yet we don't. Why? For better or worse, this is the future of the country. This is the battle for the soul of America. The other 46 matter, for certain, but they are details. Align behind one side or the other.

I don't like Newsom at any level. But he is smart, accomplished, young(er), and yes, good looking and charismatic. And successful.

I very much like DeSantis. He is young, a great family man, has served our country with distinction, his success in Florida is without question, and he is tenacious, smart, and driven. Sure, he's a little dry. Oh well.

This fight should be exactly what America demands for the future of this nation because this is the future of this nation. As much as I loathe Newsom, at least he is competent and on point. He can lead. Clearly the same for DeSantis and Haley. By contrast we are going to elect one of two morally deficient old men, one who has no idea what planet he's on and the other that is so consumed with himself he cares only for who kisses his ring.

If either Biden or Trump genuinely cared about the future of country they would back out and endorse both of these governors. Again, for better or worse, let them fight it out and let the chips fly. I would sleep very well at night with Ron in the White House. I would be somewhat less embarrassed to be an American with Newsom in charge than Biden.

Two other points.

Literally no one in this country except democrat voting geriatrics believe Biden is running anything.

Anyone with a functioning brain knows that Trump wouldn't be running the show either. It's almost as if some powers that be benefit from figure head leaders who really don't lead sh**.

We deserve a real fight by two competent candidates representing the future of the country, for better or worse. What we currently have is an absolute cluster F joke.

No, I haven't. I hope DeSantis gets in. That way we can have a knowledgeable conservative pick the justices, shoukd that arise.

Trump did ok, but all he did is open a HF list and point.

I'd rather see a conservative pick than either Trump or Biden.

The next president will be either the candidate of the dimtard/commie party or the rino/conservative party. All the third party candidate can do is tilt the vote toward one party or the other. Politicians are a personality type so you better vote for desired results. I didn't say Trump put libs on the court; it's other posters who did previously on this thread (I believe, just too lazy to double-check) and on many others.

That being said, making nominations for SCOTUS is just one pretty light responsibly of the President. If the possible expectation to pick a SCOTUS seats is the only thing going for a candidate - not policy, vision, or actionable ideas - is that candidate really the right choice?

I started this argument bc I was tired of hearing that trump is just as bad as biden.

I was making a point (and its hardly a light one) that there are differentiators.

SCOTUS is one of the 3 branches of government and we have an opportunity to keep it out of the dems hands for the next 20 years.

Trump on policy is better than Biden. Considering Trump is destroying conservatism (the only defense against liberals) from within, he is just as bad if not worse long-term than Biden.

My apologies for attributing that statement to you.

I would disagree with your statement, "making nominations for SCOTUS is just one pretty light responsibly of the President.". I would place this high on the list, if not the highest, regarding maintaining the tenets of the Constitution and rule of law.

ETA: There are 2 on the Supreme Court that do not know the law, understand the law and do not believe in the Constitution as written.

I don't get the negativity toward boomers. Yes, I am one. But to me the corruption of thought seems greater the younger the generation is. 25 year olds don't even believe there is objective truth. They think truth is whatever your truth happens to be. This is subjective truth. I think all the downing of boomers on here is just another form of TDS.

Trump has taken conservatism towards populism. He has liberal viewpoints on spending, social security/Medicare, guns, abortion, free markets, subsidies, etc. His base tends to vote for his personality and doesn't even realize he is turning them more liberal. Suddenly, you have a large segment of former conservatives that are defending the very things they fought against 10 years ago. All because Trump said them.

That doesn't even touch on the fact that he has created a schism in the party between more traditional conservatives and the MAGA crowd (see the current Cruz and Chip Roy debacle). Ensuring that Republicans are divided and weak.
