Take things one step at a time.

The current issue is that the Hamas middle leadership and foot soldiers are right next door and still able to attack. Kill them first.

so far it seems these are brigade level incursions from the southern part of the Israel/Gaza border heading north towards Rafah.

but the IDF is still in relatively unpopulated zones and along the Philadelphi Corridor which is basically a barrier road running the length of the Egyptian/Gaza Border.

it is here that the Egyptians have 30 foot walls and are trying to keep the Palestinians from invading Egypt.

looks like two or three prongs heading north- not a major liberation of Rafah yet. Even the Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant is calling this a "targeted incursion"

Has there been any deep dive into Israel's security issues prior to the attack and they might have prior knowledge but it escalated beyond their assumptions? Just curious.

This is just going to be my own opinion because I can't prove it either way so take this how you will.

NO WAY, Israel knew about their attack prior to October 7th. Israel would lose all the respect they've earned for decades if it was discovered that Bibi and the government willingly sacrificed civilian men, women and children. That would make them no better than the Hamas savages in the world's eyes. Also, it wouldn't have taken Israel weeks to mobilize, position and prepare for war. If they knew it was coming, Israel would've had everything in place and launched a devastating counterattack within hours. They warn Palestinians, who hate them, to evacuate before they rain hell down upon Hamas' infrastructure. They setup camps out of harms way with supplies for Palestinians heeding their call to leave. Ask yourself this, would Israel permit the brutal rape, torture and slaughter of their citizens, especially women and children, to justify destroying Hamas? Hell no, I suspect that Israel was tired of standing down and Hamas miscalculated in Israel not stepping down, but stepping on the gas.

IMO, the people that insinuate that Israel knew prior to the attack are using propaganda to turn support away from Israel. They're no better than our own idiots that spew FDR knew about Japan's attack on PH, or Bush knew about 9/11 beforehand.

ETA: How many decades has Israel shown restraint when attacked? Do you remember Saddam launching scud missiles into Israel during the first Gulf War? He wanted to draw Israel in to unify the Muslim nations to join him, but Israel thought clearly and didn't take the bait. How many decades have they had rockets launched into their cities from cowards using their launchers positioned in schools, hospitals, and mosques? Hamas FA and now they're FO that Israel isn't going to turn the other cheek this time. When this war is over, I hope every single leader of Hamas is hunted down and eliminated and before that happens, I want them to live in constant fear everytime they go to sleep. Living in fear for years knowing your life is forfeit, and anyone you're with (family) is worse than death, imo.

Hamas has no place to run, no place to hid.
