The term "apartheid state" is like calling someone Hitler - so overused at this point that it has no teeth and comes across as hyperbolic and grabbing for political points as opposed to being a real effort at conflict resolution. There are some similarities between SA and Israel but there are many differences. What are the critical parts of an apartheid state and does Israel/Palestine match that? I'd say that's on the person using the name to expound at the same time they make the accusation. But alas, modern discourse isn't amenable to nuance anymore.
