Are we talking about 2016 or 2024? Trump has been hanging out in Mar a Lago outside of the Town Hall and the Waco rally. He also has been exposed for running fundraisers for others but actually keeping most of the money himself multiple times. Spending has to be reported and Trump isn't spending it on ground game or putting together infrastructure. He doesn't even sign up people at his rallies in any meaningful way, he just has stuff for them to buy.Science Denier said:Let me throw some more actual facts out there.aggie93 said:Trump talks about an organization but so far he has done nothing. He holds rallies and raises money but he spends most of it on ads and paying and entertaining influencers and grifters like Rich Baris that fluff him. He hasn't done anything to actually build a true grass roots, door knocking organization outside of general support for Turning Point. Listen to them though and they aren't getting major funding from him, they are begging for their own cash and Trump isn't fundraising for them or anything. Trump is notorious for not sharing resources or raising money for others, for him his endorsement is more than enough and they owe him loyalty for life if he gives it.Science Denier said:Voter harvesting will get the dem base out. Acorn was all set up and prepped nb taxpayer dollars. To win, we have to stir up the REPUBLICAN BASE.Aglaw97 said:
Not a fan of the WaPo, but they're not wrong here. Trump will do more to turn out the Dem base and some independents, plus keeping some Republicans home, than anything Biden could do.
Trump got more votes than any republican in history, even after Dominion changed votes. That's our shot.
Trump won labor. Good, hard working people that typically voted democrat. That's why he got more votes than any republican ever.
DeSantis built a very real and very strong organization in FL. He's up almost 800k GOP Net Registrations in 5 years there because of his agenda and grass roots. He works the hell out of the ground game. He raises money for State and Local races as well because he knows those folks will get him votes he needs while also getting them elected. It's a completely different approach.
Trump already built the base. Nobody worked harder to do it than him to build his base. Nobody. He was constantly all over the country building his base during the 2016 campaign. And, he did it with the media throwing out lie after lie. But, Trump took it to them and turned their "fake news" narrative around on them. And, continued to successfully build his base. In 2020, dude got more votes than any republican in history. Oh, did I mention he accomplished this with the FBI focused 100% on him, and the RINO's in DC impeaching him, twice?
Yea, DeSantis accomplished this in the small area of Florida. And I'm sure he had a bit of media to deal with. But ne's not done anything comparable to what Trump did.
Fundraising for others? Seriously? Crap like this is why I continue the laugh/cry face. It's just stupid. Look at all the candidates Trump fundraised for. Out on the trail actually working for others. And not just a few races in his home state. Nationally. As in working his ass off traveling around the country.
This is really hilarious. The only reason I can give Trump any credit is for his SCOTUS appointments (you know..that judiciary that is completely against Trump still....pause for laughter). To back pedal now is a telegraph to everyone that Trump is now just adjusting his tactic to appease a broader crowd. Screw those evangelicals. Additionally, Trump thinks he would still hold sway over states (as do many here) so if he can't deliver, then he's just blowing more hot air to do nothing but gain votes for something he won't follow through with.Funky Winkerbean said:
If it's a states matter, why is his position on abortion so important?

Trump has been very careful to avoid taking a stance for a date. 6 weeks plus exceptions is not an extreme position at all. It's FAR less restrictive than Texas and many other states. At best it was a foolish mistake by Trump to make that statement and show his cards, especially the way he said it. He could have said that he doesn't think a similar law nationally would work for instance but not say it was "too harsh". He could have not tried speaking for other Pro Lifers. Instead he just force all his Pro Life supporters to essentially say that 6 weeks plus exceptions is not only bad but "too harsh" and implied that stopping abortion is "harsh".Science Denier said:To be clear, Trump has ALWAYS been to the left of DeSantis' stance on abortion. Trump's focus has always been to take away federal funds from planned parenthood and overturn roe vs wade. being against unlimited abortions has always been his stance. Even when President, many criticized his stance on abortion. That was some of the attacks used against him back then.Quote:
In the end though Trump is definitely to the Left of DeSantis on abortion even if you think 6 weeks plus exceptions is "Pro Life" by some bizarre logic.
This isn't some recent shift to the left.

Maga loved it when Elon bought Twitter, mostly because he was going to let Trump back on Twitter.
Now that Elon is having a thing with DeSantis, it'll be interesting to see if their positive feelings towards Elon start at the same level, or if they are going to have an "et tu, Elon" moment.
You people still haven't figured out that it doesn't matter who shows up at the polls for the Democrats, their vote will be cast regardless.Aglaw97 said:I think that's right. My belief is that net/net, Trump will do more for Biden than Desantis. The loss of Trump voters if Desantis is the candidate will not be greater than the voters that will show up and vote for Desantis and more importantly the number of Democrats or Independents that will just sit this one out as long as Trump isn't on the ballot.Rapier108 said:Typical Trumpster lie.Bird93 said:
To me, the choice is simple. 100% of Trump supporters would vote for DeSantis in the general. The converse of that is not true.
There are Trump supporters including people here who have publicly said they will not vote for DeSantis if he is the nominee.
You can find others around the Internet. Free Republic has a huge number of Only and Forever Trumpers who hate DeSantis more than they hate Biden or any other Democrat. They would rather see the country burn than anyone but Trump win.
There's a reason why the Democratic party wants Trump to be the nominee.

ERIC anyone?
Quote:
A legal group's lawsuit to obtain Alaska's ERIC data reports about "potentially deceased registrants on the state's voter rolls" may proceed, a district court ruled last week.
As The Federalist previously reported, the Electronic Registration Information Center, or ERIC, is a widely used voter-roll management organization founded by Democrat activist David Becker that was "sold to states as a quick and easy way to update their voter rolls." In actuality, ERIC inflates voter rolls by requiring member states to contact eligible but unregistered residents to register to vote.
Quote:
In their lawsuit against Alaska Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom, the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) is alleging that "ERIC reports are 'records' subject to the disclosure provision of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA)." Under the NVRA, states are required to make "available for public inspection, for a period of at least two years, all records concerning the implementation of programs and activities conducted for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and currency of official lists of eligible voters." The two exceptions to this provision are documents revealing the identity of the government agency through which any particular registrant was registered and those showing an individual declined to register to vote.
LINKQuote:
Writing for the court, Judge Sharon Gleason ruled Dahlstrom's assertions that PILF failed to effectively "state a claim" in its complaint and that the NVRA doesn't require the division "to disclose the deceased voter reports it received from ERIC" are invalid.

It really does border on a cult-like insanity. One of my favorites is "everyone does it, outright lying, false accusations and slander and adopting liberal positions is just part of gearing up for the GOP primaries...everyone does this, were you born yesterday???".Definitely Not A Cop said:

Your boy attacks Desantis for being too hard against abortion and for not locking the state down for much longer. And that is when he's not making up outright lies about Desantis being "endorsed by Soros" or a "groomer" of teenage girls...or just hurling childish insults like "Tiny Desantis is only 5'7".cevans_40 said:Yall are super concerned about Trump supporters and very moderate in your thinking. No matter, most are thrilled he added free speech again to Twitter.Quote:
Twitter CEO Elon Musk expressed his support for Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.)'s presidential campaign for the second time in less than a week following Scott's entrance into the race Friday, adding to the mystique surrounding Musk's nebulous political leanings and speculation about whether he was rethinking his previous plans to support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the 2024 GOP nomination.
Still goaltending and ignoring the fact that Trump is saying that Desantis should not be so anti-abortion. That he should loosen restrictions. He always attacks from a liberal position. That's all he can do, because Desantis is an actual conservative.Funky Winkerbean said:Definitely Not A Cop said:

He's attacking a governor in his home state about the issues he is proposing for his state. He is claiming that DeSantis is being too conservative. Quit deflecting, trump is an idiot in this situation.
