I guess the record number of gun sales and ever loosening of Texas gun laws is unrelated with this fact.

Woman that tweeted that is dumb. Graph is for "gun deaths", not specifically "homicides". The graph also does not show a 90% increase and only goes back 9 years… Think we're gonna need to see some better sources.

Shannon Watts is a deranged lunatic with the IQ of a turnip.

This is one of her unhinged, uninformed rants. She thinks it is an "assault rifle."

No surprise the OP loves her.

Which gun laws were loosened that attributed to this rise in deaths? Please be specific and provide some evidence.

What gun laws that have been "loosened" in Texas over the last 11 years do you believe have led to more gun deaths?

The data is bogus. While the number of murders rose in Texas from 2011 to 2017 (most recent I could easily find), it started to decrease in the last year. It was roughly 1100 in 2011 and about 1400 in 2017, and not all of those were firearm related, though roughly 3/4 on average are. Thus, in 2017, about 1050 murders were firearms related homicides.

The data listed is including suicides, mostly, and is trying to use those increased numbers to make a point that mostly isn't true. It may be a tragedy that more people are killing themselves, but we aren't less safe because of it. Additionally, a significant number of murders (42%) are committed by someone the victim knows -- either family or an acquaintance. Thus, of that number above, we're talking about 600 murders statewide in Texas that year by someone the victim doesn't know.

Exactly. Watts is a known liar when it comes to anything about guns.

What percentage of those gun deaths are in Democrat strongholds? The answer to that question will likely tell you that it's a cultural problem and not a gun problem.

Couldn't use it when a democrat trans killed christian kids
Couldn't use it when a "gun control" democrat killed innocent people and a cop at a bank

Can't use it every weekend when democrats thugs shoot dozens of other democrats thugs in every blue city

No name out yet?

Guns have always been here. They are a constant. What are the variables that have changed to make this an issue?

Guns are not the problem. Our population has increased, we have let way too much riff-raff come into Texas, both from across the southern border and from other states, we don't punish criminals swiftly or near harshly enough, etc.

Guarantee it includes gangsters shooting each other in lawless democrat cities, and folks offing themselves because they are living in fear from Covid, and because of gender dysphoria.

Stop letting gang members and cartel members cross the border.

Stop refusing to prosecute violent offenders and letting them out on cashless bail.

You can't refuse toaintain law amd order and then act completely shocked when violence increases.

Do these two things and you will discover gun violence goes waaaaay down.
