I don't budget for getting shot either but I do budget for covering my deductible.

Your deductible usually isn't all you'll end up covering. When the wife was pregnant with our son, she had very abnormal ligament pain. When I say abnormal, I mean excruciating for hours when it is usually discomfort for no more than a few minutes. We ended up in the ER. They have her a rapid test to make sure she wasn't going into early labor. She wasn't, the pain eventually subsided, and we left. We got a bill for like $2500. Aetna decided they would not cover the test because it was "unnecessary/experimental." We appealed and I even sent in their own internal guidance starting that it should be covered in our case. Aetna still declined. Since it wasn't covered, it was not applied to our deductible or max OOP cost for the year. When we delivered, Aetna ****ed us again on what was in and out of network. Apparently, her OB was, but the only hospital she delivered at was not for a planned c section which her OB required due to complications with our first meeting the wife higher risk. We got separate bills and didn't hit either the in network or out of network deductibles. Again, Aetna basically just ignored the appeals.
So you can budget for your deductible all day, but you will inevitably pay A LOT more.
About 20 years ago I was part of a small group that accidentally drove off in the wrong car. A funny story.EMY92 said:In the 80s, I unlocked the door to a tan Crown Vic with my parents keys. It was identical to my parents car, door key worked, ignition did not. The right car was on the other side of a truck.MsDoubleD81 said:
This may be off track, but about 30 years ago, I know someone whose elderly parents lived in Detroit. They went to the grocery store and came home IN THE WRONG CAR. The car was a GM sedan and looked identical to theirs and ironically their key started the wrong car.
They were clueless until the cops showed up at their house and accused the 80 something cotton tops of car theft!!

Note to self: when renewing my health insurance, don't consider Aetna!

Believe it or not, there are still parents who sometimes say "no."Bocephus said:torrid said:I'm one of those that does't have kids, but if I were I would not want to put my children in such a pressure and time intensive situation. Generals is a "worlds" team that is very select and annually one of the best squads in the world. They are about to compete in the Worlds Finals in Orlando this weekend. Woodlands Elite is one of the top competitive cheer gyms in the country and girls who want scholarships and are good enough to make a team there travel from all over the Houston area and as far as Austin or Beaumont to compete on one of their teams. It sounds crazy to people without kids or with kids who never got wrapped into the very competitive worlds of baseball, cheer, gymnastics, soccer, etc., but you'd be surprised how far parents let competitive sports take their kids if they there are scholarship or professional track opportunities.
There was another thread on this subject that I had posted on. I guess it was removed entirely (?).
edit - This is not relevant to the incident that happened. She could have been out with friends after a football game and come across a similar idiot with a gun.
You say that bc you do not have a child who begs you to compete on this teams. I know friends who work second jobs to pay fees for travel teams.

Apparently one of the girls who was shot is competing at Worlds this weekend. They replaced the other one and Generals is kicking ass so far this weekend with a chance to win.
