So why do they need money?
I get someone else set it up and people are free to help.
But this culture of I need money from people everytime something bad happens is outta control.
Because we live in America and in America if you get badly injured you're likely going to be slammed with tens of thousands in medical debt.
It's not money they need so they can go on a vacation to Europe.
Even the cheapest Obamacare plans have a catastrophic out of pocket cap. So save us the tens of thousands bit.
If they are in financial peril because of this they were irresponsible and have misplaced priorities. Which they already probably do because their kid was practicing cheerleading on 3 school nights a week 2.5 hours away.
Speaking from experience - you would be amazed at you can get wiped out by medical costs even with good insurance. My family's insurance is from my wife as a Texas school teacher and we get the top plan. I've ended up with paying tens of thousands in medical bills multiple years for far less than ICU. Granted - we've had doosies of medical issues, but you're buying into your insurance marketing if you think they'll walk out of it with a few grand in costs.
And by the way - great Christian values ya got there as far as your attitude. Not only saying a simple mistake was an idiot move but saying the family is irresponsible with misplaced priorities??? You don't know anything about them but judging like the king of the mountain?
1. Spouse had a baseball sized tumor removed, week in hospital, we were out $1000 and hit cap. We are responsible.
2. I'm not a christian.
3. They are irresponsible if they now face financial burdens while wasting money on cheerleading.
Son had oral surgery - no days in hospital. $7k bill. Same son had heart surgery $12k bill. We spend 10-12k a year for my daughters skin condition until recently when we started dupixant and my wife spent 3 days on the phone with makers of and they agreed not to charge $3k a month after insurance. Daughter had allergic reaction one night that we ended up in the emergency room for and that itself cost $1k and really only got Benadryl out of it.
You may have lucked out - I could do $1k all the time. Or you may have issues and the anesthesiologist is out of network even though your doctor is. Hell, you could have been shot in a parking lot and not been able to make sure the hospital is in network. You could end up needing a ton of care that your insurance doesn't cover.
Medical bills are the number one reason people go bankrupt in this country. The bills can be gigantic and not something that people have cash laying around for - even with insurance. I get it - if my only experience with medical bills was for $1k, I would be wondering why they would be asking for money also. I get you are proud of the way you handled money and think spending money on your car is better than spending money on your kids.
I get you aren't Christian - not really one either. Just thought you would have some moral compass in there.
