He would have been smart to stay in the background and encourage DeSantis to run and let everyone think of him as the kingmaker. That would have gotten the Democrats off his back and allowed him to enjoy an incredible retirement and still have the ability to influence things behind the scenes.

They are most certainly not afraid of him. He will lose the popular vote by 10 million and lose the electoral college by 50.

I love Trump and I love my fellow republicans, but if you want suburban counties in Texas to vote blue up and down the ballot in 2024, nominate Trump.
