Yeah, maybe there isn't an all out turf war going on RIGHT NOW, but it's still really effing bad. You can live 100-200 miles from the border and know that. And almost all of us have friends and family living down there who give us the scoop. Hell it's pretty bad on this side. I know people who have had to hold gang bangers on their own land at gunpoint.Charpie said:People do this all the damn time without any consequences. It's amazing how many of you keyboard warriors up in Frisco and Katy think you know about the border. It's not as bad as it once was when the cartel violence first broke out.
This specific situation seems to be a case of mistaken identity, which is why both governments got involved.
And if you think that the US and Mexican governments are fully aware AND allowing the cartels to operate as long as no one of consequence gets hurt, then you aren't as smart as you think you are.
The problem is that no one wants to clean up Mexico.Line Ate Member said:
Way to clean up Mexico:
Treat northern Mexico like it is Iraq. Treat the cartels like they are ISIS. Do what Trump did to ISIS to cartels.
Mexico is a lot like South Africa. Sure, it's totally fine to go there until you get kidnapped, raped, or murdered and then it's not so fine. The crime rates in both are astronomical so why tempt fate when there are many other nice places to go.Brittmoore Car Club said:Yeah, maybe there isn't an all out turf war going on RIGHT NOW, but it's still really effing bad. I think the keyboard warriors in/from the Valley are the funniest..."I go all the time, I'm not scared, y'all don't know what you're talking about, it's not that bad". You may feel fine cruising through Juarez or Piedras or Matamoros as someone who looks indistinguishable from most of the residents of those towns, but I can almost guarantee you'd feel like a fish out of water as a white or black person.
I am sure there are a few "safe passage" towns for whitey...although I wouldn't like my long term odds if I was going to ANY Mexican border town almost every day. My Mexican buddy from Oaxaca says he would never go to most border towns or travel some of the highways leading to the interior. And he used to make pretty routine road trips to places like Monterey etc.Charpie said:

I have white friends who go to Reynosa every damn day and manage to come back alive. They also aren't stupid enough to walk around looking like a tourista

It's a delicate dance, but apparently it's being used as a distraction to whatever a person wants the media focused on (two examples supra), and yet will be memory holed as uncomfortable for being too on point (per below).J. So the cartel joined the weekly Deep State zoom meetings to offer up their willingness to help distract the public?

2. Violence in close proximity to the American border? Check.

So when is Al Sharpton headed to Matamoros ?
Sister in law did the same thing a couple of months ago. I think it was a medical tourism company that set everything up. Flew into San Diego, Hospital van picked them up, took them to Hotel. Van picked them up the next day and took them to the hospital, which was behind a tall, locked gate. Didn't leave the hospital until time to go back across the border to SD. Never felt like they were in any kind of danger.beanbean said:
I work with a guy who went to Tijuana last year with his wife so she could get lap band surgery. He said it was a great experience. It was $5K and the hospital set them up at a beach house on Rosarita Beach for the week they were there. He said the hospital was pristine and they waited on them hand and foot. Everything turned fine for them. Wife lost a ton of weight and hasn't had any issues since.
Anyway, I wouldn't ever do that, but their time was a success story. Also, he said the hospital had them park on the US side of the border and a hospital van picked them up and took them across the border and trolleyed them around all week so they didn't drive in.

they should go to Colombia for plastic surgeryea1060 said:I personally know 3 Mexican American girls who got nose jobs in Mexico in the past year or two. Granted, they were done in Monterrey and San Miguel de Allende, which are much safer cities than Matamoros or any border town. The nose jobs were all done very well, with respected surgeons, and much cheaper than it would have cost in the US. There are some very good surgeons/doctors in Mexico and South America that a lot of Americans visit for their procedures.annie88 said:
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, but how anybody could think that getting a surgery in Mexico is a good idea is beyond me. Truly, that is something that I would never even consider.
