This isn't the 90s. I don't think anybody drives to Mexico to buy drugs anymore. Mexico brings them here.
Umm have you ever been to the valley lol? Pretty much everyone that lives in the valley, or El Paso, goes to Matamoros/Juarez to buy cheap prescription drugs: antibiotics, xanax, klonopin, viagra etc.

Heck, I know people in Phoenix who drive down to Rocky Point, Mexico frequently to get prescription drugs.

My grandparents in East Texas would make alternating trips into Mexico with fellow elderly at their church in the 90's and early 2000's to bring back prescription meds for the group. Pretty crazy to think about now.

Nuevo Progresso is apparently still safe. I've got a lot of friends who go there for dental work. Only 30 min from Matamoras.

My buddy and I were in Tijuana back around 2006-2007. We had always heard you could just walk into a pharmacy and get whatever you wanted down there. But that was not our experience at all. They wouldn't do sh** without a prescription. I guess certain pharmacies may have bent the rule more than others?

You have to find a pharmacy that writes prescriptions too.

I feel there is more to it than what everyone is saying. Kidnappings and killings happen every day or week in Mexico. Even to Americans. What makes these 4 so special?

I have been told by friends who used to frequent Mexican pharmacies in the 90s that the pharmacies would refer them to the physician next door for a script.

I personally know 3 Mexican American girls who got nose jobs in Mexico in the past year or two. Granted, they were done in Monterrey and San Miguel de Allende, which are much safer cities than Matamoros or any border town. The nose jobs were all done very well, with respected surgeons, and much cheaper than it would have cost in the US. There are some very good surgeons/doctors in Mexico and South America that a lot of Americans visit for their procedures.

Eh. She had a lot going for her but also made a lot of questionable choices along the way. I am sad that she passed and miss her, but also understand this was probably destined to happen. But yeah, going to Mexico for surgery is not advised.

Absolutely. Just avoid the border Town butchers.

Many in Drs in central America are US trained and go home and kill it without the bull **** costs of US healthcare.

Yeah, this did not start as a kidnapping but a mistaken ambush on people they thought were drug-dealing rivals. Two are reportedly still alive, though I hate to think what the future has in store for them. If they have to travel to Mexico for plastic surgery, obviously the family has no money for ransom. I guess the cartels will see what they can get from the Mexican or US governments.

I do not understand people going to Mexico these days, even the resorts in Cancun and Cozumel. We have seen that the cartels are disregarding the old handshake agreement that there would be no violence in the resort towns.

It is tragic. Part of my childhood we lived in Corpus and a few times a year we would drive down to the border to eat and shop. I feel for the people caught in the narco wars down there.

I have changed my views on legalizing certain drugs in the US for the purposes of hurting the cartels and employing military assets to at least impair their operations.

The refusal by the Dems and the FJB administration to provide border security is very much treason and willful disregard for the safety of the citizens for the sole purpose of increasing their political power.
We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so we don't get what we deserve.

A law enforcement official with knowledge of the matter tells NBC News there is no evidence the Americans drove into a gunfight. The evidence is they were targeted by Cartel gunmen after they crossed the border, in a case of mistaken identity. There was a chase and shots were fired at them. The source said one theory is that the Cartel believed these were Haitian people smugglers encroaching on their turf.

People do this all the damn time without any consequences. White and Hispanic folks do this daily.

It's amazing how many of you keyboard warriors up in Frisco and Katy think you know about the border. It's not as bad as it once was when the cartel violence first broke out.

This specific situation seems to be a case of mistaken identity, which is why both governments got involved.

And if you think that the US and Mexican governments are fully aware AND allowing the cartels to operate as long as no one of consequence gets hurt, then you aren't as smart as you think you are.

Agree, I still go across a bit. You just have to be smart.

What is problematic to me is the fact that there are people who live down here who have been down here generations and they get murdered all the time nobody cares.

Now we have some of our darlings of the left, going down for some food stamp surgery, and everyone is up in arms, including being willing to send the military in.

it's honestly no different than the folks that get caught in the crossfire in gang violence in Chicago. Everyone who winds up dead knows EXACTLY why they wound up that way. It's the cost of $$$ and doing business that isn't legit.

I had a sub ask me for an advance on his work. I asked him why. He fked up his knee off the job-site, didnt have insurance nor eligible for workman's comp. He told me that he needed some codeine just so he could work through the pain, thus he needed the advance so he could finish the job. He told me how much it cost from his connect.

The guy wants to work, and isnt using it for recreational purposes. He may have found some discarded hydrocodone shortly after that, with the name sharpied off the bottle, allegedly.
