No. Some people have been on the terrifying end of this dogs base mentality that were raised as a family animal.

Put it together and you have a breed with no reason to live. Many will die on this hill
I already responded to this line of reasoning a few posts above.
You are no different than the person who wants to ban "assault rifles" (which they cannot define) or the women who want to put a curfew on men one day a week so they can feel safe running at 3 in the morning.
There is something you are scared of.
Instead of addressing the root problem, you'd rather legally ban what you fear.
Your reasoning is a slippery slope and should be entirely rejected.
The root of the problem is the breed was bred to kill things and idiots keep acting surprised when they do. There's an epidemic of ignorance and overconfidence that plagues the people that choose to own these animals. Their hubris makes them believe they can control them because they are superior owners and know how to train pets better. Then the dog rips someone's face off and we are right back here wondering what happened. Dogs are bred to do things. It's burned into their nature. Quit being a dumbass.
The epidemic of ignorance resides with you.

40 years ago I had an encounter with a pit as I was riding my roping horse back from a friends arena. I'm clip clopping down the street in a crappy neighborhood when a fat jerk and his even fatter wife sitting on their front porch sicced their pit on my horse, I guess for fun or to see what would happen. I heard them do it and next thing I knew a brown blur hurled itself at my mare's shoulder. It hit hard but fortunately did not get a good grip and fell back. The horse exploded under me and went insane for a minute. Now I don't know if any of you boys have ever ridden a sure enough buck with steel shoes on a paved street, but it ain't fun. Meanwhile the pit ran in to grab a hind leg. As my horse launched for the sky under me on about the third jump she mule kicked that damn dog and caught him square. Sounded like a baseball bat on a walnut tree. I do believe it killed the dog. When I got my horse under control about two houses down I looked back and the fat gal was screaming and pulling her hair while the husband was trying to carry a very limp dog off. So I have no use for the breed, damn dangerous animals. Took me awhile to get that horse back in her groove for heeling.
so what does this mean? Am I reading incorrectly?Ag with kids said:Reginald Cousins said:Ag with kids said:Sorry.Reginald Cousins said:Ag with kids said:You have a 1 in 112,400 chance of dying from a dog bite or strikeJB99 said:tehmackdaddy said:JB99 said:tehmackdaddy said:jagvocate said:

While it's very sensational when it happens, it's still pretty rare.

Context does matter a little.

Facts exist, but the term pit bull is an ill defined term and the media is notorious for expanding the term to sell clicks. What is a pit bull?
I'm pointing out that it's not nearly the sensational thing that everyone here is making it out to be. There's LOTS of things more dangerous than ANY kind of dog.Reginald Cousins said:Ag with kids said:I gave you facts.Reginald Cousins said:

Only 6% of dog owners have pit bulls. The vast majority of people won't come in close proximity to one. However, if you do, you better have your head on a swivel and be ready. Context does matter. Also, if your child plans on visiting a friend's house you might want to find out what kind of dog they have. If you are walking your dog and see a pit bull off leash get the F out of there.

Over 17K people die every year in the US from slipping, tripping, and falling...we should outlaw walking.
Context does matter a little.
If they were an airplane, very few would board. It's all you need to know. I don't care of slips. I care about the most dangerous dogs and that's the discussion we're having. It seems lost on you.
Hell, this board is HEAVILY pro-gun. But, accidental discharges are WAY more dangerous than dogs. But, that's not sensational.
But, I get that context is immaterial to this thread so I'm going to bail on it...
So...keep your head on a swivel when you visit them.
shocker: if you have friends with a pool you're statistically more apt to drown.
Then we should ban pit bulls.Reginald Cousins said:Ag with kids said:Ok.Reginald Cousins said:Ag with kids said:Just remember, if you have friend's with guns, you've got more of a chance of dying from an accidental discharge.JB99 said:Ag with kids said:I'm pointing out that it's not nearly the sensational thing that everyone here is making it out to be. While it's very sensational when it happens, it's still pretty rare.

THIS. THREAD. IS. ABOUT. DOGS.
And in the context of everything, pit bulls are WAY the **** down the list of dangerous things in this world. (see...that was using dogs AND context).
And to finalize. If you have friends with pit bulls you're
Way more apt to get your face eaten. This isn't hard.
