At least it's a rated R flick, and not being shown on Saturday morning cartoons.

Saw the Kal Penn cover recently of a catchy School House Rock toon and while waxing nostalgic was amused by how suggestive the animation would be considered today. That kid's parents are somewhere, right?

Definitely an exclamation point on this one instead of a comma because the feeling's not as strong.

Based on a true story…

Obviously it's a free country and rated R means that 12 years olds shouldn't be watching other 12 year olds doing drugs. But we know that's not true.

Issue for me is really more philosophical. The more we make evil things mainstream in our entertainment and what we consume, the more our moral compass continues to erode over time. Sensitivity to wrong slowly erodes.

This movie was so freaking fun.

So bad it is great.

For me, thats more important to address than a silly movie about a cocaine ravaged bear. Hunter is the gleaming example of the law not applying to privileged white kids. Thats more influential then a movie that is likely to bomb.

Get real. Not everyone wants the government to be their daddy. It's a movie, if you don't want to support it then don't watch it, boycott the studio, etc. Wish you all the best in another failed conservative boycott.

It's R rated. Why do parents care when the ball is in their court and they can easily take steps to not let their kids watch this movie?

Anyone remember Kids from the early 90s? I'd rather my kids watch cocaine bear any and every day over that.

It's a pretty funny scene. The young boy (one of the best characters in the film), pretends to be experienced with drugs. When they find the cocaine, they don't actually know how to ingest it, so they try to eat it and gag it back up. That's when the bear finds them with all the cocaine.

I am not proposing such things, but I honestly don't think I'd have any problems with a law saying you cannot depict children using hard drugs for entertainment of others. I don't really see the "slippery slopes" others do when laws are centered around protecting children and their innocence.

Children high on cocaine, whether they snort it or inject it, is just very wrong to me...even if they somehow make it funny. Even introducing the real life child actors to this concept is wrong, and in a way, a form of weird grooming.

Honestly, if the Cocaine Bear kids were high schoolers, and not grade school looking children (I believe the child actor was like 11 when this was filmed), I'd have less of a problem with it. Just seems dirty.
