There is no "gay culture" - we come in all sorts of flavors. It's even stupider than saying "white culture" lol.

If there is no such thing as gay culture, then what exactly is being celebrated at a gay pride event?

Of course there is a gay culture. It's hilarious you would claim otherwise. I would post a bunch of links, but suspect you know you are being duplicitous.

Acknowledging a culture does not imply there are not "all sorts of flavors". That is like saying there is no Western Culture because Europeans come in all sorts of flavors.

Do you see one type of gay at a pride event? Tell me about all the pride events you've been to. I know a lot of you straights here are gay pride experts because you see the extreme fringes posted on social media. [/eyeroll]

Are you one of the guys holding the giant signs about gays going to hell at them? If so, can see how you may think we speak with one voice. Not much of a spectrum of opinions about those people at a pride event, we're all on same page there.

You are pretending not to understand the definition of culture. It does not demand homogeneity. But again, you know better and are simply trying to deflect form the LGBTQ+ sexualization of children.

I'll ask the question again - what are they celebrating if there isn't any social construct (culture) to celebrate? Are they celebrating the physical act(s) of gay sex itself? Seriously, what are these many varied individuals with no common cultural connection celebrating?

You know what would really stop the criticism of the gays and drag? Refuse to perform if children are present.

And that toast was more than trashy. It was lewd and vile. He acknowledged the children in the room and still gave the toast. WTF???

Just once, I'd like to see a gay man who posts here say that drag is 100% inappropriate for children and vehemently protest against these events. Just once. But it's always gentle disapproval and excuse making at best.

He did in this thread

Absolutely unacceptable. I just do not understand parents who bring their kids to stuff like this. Drag shows are adult entertainment and belong in spaces appropriate for such.

That said, it doesn't look to me like they advertised the event as "family friendly" so I'm not sure where that came from. That may be an attempt to suggest this was targeted at kids, and I don't think that's true. This is squarely on the parents, IMO.

Like I said,

Quote:

Just once, I'd like to see a gay man who posts here say that drag is 100% inappropriate for children and vehemently protest against these events. Just once. But it's always gentle disapproval and excuse making at best.

MAYBE that's because these events are used to spin a completely untrue damaging narrative about gay people and people like you want to believe that narrative so bad you don't care about the facts - like if this was ever advertised as a family friendly event. You just believe EVERYTHING you see on internet. You're being manipulated to hate a group who wasn't even really at this event comprised of 90% adult women and a couple kids.

I will say the people to be pissed at are the irresponsible mothers.
