This is how I feel. There's a lot of bad things to say, but at the end of the day an American is not longer locked up abroad. Glad she's out and on her way home.

Good! I don't like US citizens to be treated badly abroad.

Even entitled citizens that denounce the country that has given them so much and to which they have given nothing?

The cherry on the top is they left the Marine behind to rot in a Russian prison

Cognitive dissonance is a mother ****er

I dont like us citizens breaking other countries laws and then expecting special treatment because they are American, a pro sport athlete, or a class B celeb.

You go to someone's else's country, respect their laws.

In order to respect their laws you should need to know them. Is it reasonable to believe anyone traveling in another country should know the ins and outs of that country's laws and penalties for things that may not even be punished here?
Seriously? In a word, YES. Especially drugs.

1. In the usa, can you legally fly with Marijuana?

2. Yes, if you're going to another country, you should be aware of the laws. If you're planning in using drugs, you should definitely have an idea of the laws.

3. You should do at least a little research on customs and courtesies of where your going

Black Americans are the most prosperous black people in the world. Had their ancestors not been slaves here, they'd have been slaves in Africa where the vast majority of them already were.

So, in that sense, black Americans are lucky.

You need to include warlord dictators of Central Africa in your most profitable calculations. You know, the descendants of those who SOLD their brethren into slavery...

Prisoner swap for Bart, a 35k millionaire basketball player who whines constantly and hates our country and zilch for Snowden, who blew the whistle on the alphabet agencies for spying on every single one of us, including this message that I am just now posting.

Putin wins.

Played Joe like a fiddle.

Has his bad guy back. Still holding a US good guy.

If you read his history, he doesn't sound like the hero everyone makes him out to be. He and Griner were both in Russia voluntarily rather than in service of their country. If you choose to go to a place like Russia and and are not doing it for the United States, you're assuming the risk Russia is going to act like . . . Russia. Bad policy to trade an international arms dealer for either of them.

Pro tip for most of us: Don't go to Russia. And if you do go to Russia, don't do stupid **** like Griner and Whelan did.

Eagerly awaiting to hear Griner's official statement about being sent home to a brutal, racist regime where rich people like her live in constant fear.
excited to hear from all the USG officials who worked to capture Victor Bout

now getting to watch him in a dacha outside Moscow.

Only makes sense that since Biden installed the Taliban back into Afghanistan after 20 years, he reinstalls Russian arms dealers to be able to bail out Putin.

I think Griner's sentence was incredibly harsh so getting out now seems closer to a just sentence. I don't like or respect Griner, but I thought the original sentence was a miscarriage of Justice.

But the fact that we traded a major arms dealer for Griner is ridiculous, and clearly only done because of Griner being a celebrity and black and trans.

A one for one swap should have been the arms dealer for the Marine, or get multiple Americans out like the other guy who was sentenced for the exact same thing as Griner.

I went on a business trip to Moscow back in 2013.

beginning of spring and it was still ugly as @#$@#

everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is covered in brown mud.

I can't imagine it has gotten any better over the course of the last year of sanctions.

In a related story, I wonder just how much of our tax dollars were spent renting out the Harris county's Toyota Center, along with paying for all the required staff and refreshments, for the Free Britney rally held a few months ago.

Just think of how many trees Harris County judge Lina (aka Dora) could have planted with that money.

Many of you are playing right into Russian propaganda. This is exactly what they wanted, people getting butt hurt over the optics of Griner going home while Whelan stays behind. The Russians weren't going to release the former marine at any price.

Russian propaganda? This is more about US propaganda than Russian.

What else would you call it? This is something the US did which is against its national interests and the interests of world peace and stability (releasing a major, dangerous arms dealer) done solely for the purpose of appeasing the MSM and appealing to particularly favored demographics for the party in power.

Let's at least try to be objective here.

Seriously, how can you not at least leverage a throw in for the teacher no one cares about?

The answer is in that last phrase. No one cares about him, so the administration won't even bother fighting for him.

Once again, with biden at the helm, we got the short end of the deal. Well, not in terms of height, he is definitely taller than the Russian.

If I were Russia or a similar country, as long as biden or harris were in the White House (controlled by the same people), it would encourage me to plant drugs on American travelers or arrest them on some charge to have more bait for similar swaps.

Quit taking the damn bait.

Biden and his cronies are salivating at the idea of Republicans coming out en masse and raging about this. They will gleefully scream racism and homophobia at any and all criticism of Griner's release. Sometimes the best play is to sit back, smile, and wait.
