This guy is such a weirdo creep wannabe bundy. Im sure this idiot is loving all the attention he gets
He is going to revel in the trial coverage even knowing he is going to get thrown in jail for the rest of his life.

Hopefully he'll get the same treatment as Dahmer in prison. Better not to waste any resources on this guy for too long.

Such a disgusting, senseless situation. Four beautiful lives just snuffed out for nothing.

Could you imagine being the parents of a child like this? I don't know how you live the rest of your life. I don't know how you can comprehend something like this.

Your last two posts are right where I am on this. I just cannot wrap my head around how anyone could kill innocent people, young innocent people robbed of their whole life. For no reason at all. I have a granddaughter who just finished her first year at A&M and I think about her and her friends every day relative to something like this.

And once something like this happens, it cannot be undone. Every day the parents (and others) will think of their children, miss them, not be able to hear their voice or get a text from them. Birthdays and Christmas never the same. All that is why I have a zero tolerance on crime, particularly when someone is killed, and think criminals should be treated very harshly. If this guy is found guilty, I'd have no problem with him being tortured almost to death, revived, let him think about it a couple of days, and then do it again.

yep and totally agree. it's why the left's stance on crime is so mind boggling to me. Every one of us signs a social contract to obey the law and to not hurt your fellow man. If you can't meet those 2 very simple criteria, I just don't care what happens to you or how harsh your punishment is.

You'll never convince me that even something like theft is necessary to put food on your table, especially in this nation.

More likely to put meth on the table.

I'd be surprised if even one theft in a million is committed for food.

Jessica Reed Kraus had some write ups on this case yesterday that were interesting. I enjoy her Substack on noteworthy trials, excellent writer. She is pushing the drug angle quite a bit, with BK and the boyfriend Quinn being involved. She gets a lot of anonymous tips. It's a good read, some of her articles are only for paid subscribers though.

She thinks he left Boise earlier morning to drive to Moscow to clear the drugs. Also discusses how drugs were being delivered via door dash. The university is hushing the drug stuff.

I could see the university maybe keeping that quiet when it happens on campus but off-campus?

Besides, there are surveillance cameras (ring doorbells and the like all over that area. If someone was taking a lot out of the house in daylight before the 911 call, I'd think that would be on camera?

I saw a headline pop up the other day about bk trying to decide something about his alibi. Did any of you legal minds hear/read anything about that?

Defense counsel asked for more time to decide if they will claim an alibi defense. He can say he was somewhere else but the investigators assigned to his defense team has to serahc for evidence to corroborate that before they assert it. Phone records, security camera footage, neighbors, eyewitnesses, etc. etc.

BTW, the mere fact that they asked for more time indicates they are having trouble getting that corroboration but feel they have a few more avenues to explore.

(Sidenote: In the Murdaugh trial, neither the state nor the defense got the GPS info for his Suburban until after the first week of trial. And that GPS info made it pretty difficult for Alex to be the murderer. Had his defense team had that info, their trial strategy would have changed.)

Interesting. Why does it take so long to get gps information from a known device? Especially when you own that device?

Ask Chevrolet. The state had subpoenaed it but Chevrolet had said they did not have that info. Alex Murdaugh was actively signing whatever documents he was asked to alow them to release it but to no avail until like I said, some employee at Chevrolet saw the trial coverage and went back to check in their database. Lo and behold, he found it and provided it to the prosecution who then passed it on to the defense. Caused some delays in the trial while both sides got up to speed (pun intended) on what the data contained.

Long story short, Alex was starting his car and over a half mile away from when and where his wife's phone was thrown on the side of the highway. His car and his phone were not in proximity to hers. Jury convicted him anyway because frankly they guy is just a huge POS but have serious doubts he killed his wife and son. He might have known they were going to be killed but he personally didn't do it.

In the final analysis it really doesn't matter because he'll be in prison for the remainder of his life for his financial crimes but there was very little evidence connecting him to the actual murders, a very bloody scene. So I can't get too upset that he was wrongfully convicted on the murder charges.

That is not remotely the same as the recent conviction of Zacariah Anderson in Judge schroeder's court in Kenosha. That one is not only baffling but infuriating.

I had a meeting last week in the basement of the courthouse. I talked to some locals about the case. They expect it to stay here and not be moved to Coeur d'Alene and are preparing for an absolute circus in October. Some concerns about managing the national interest for several weeks when there is a church and high school right across the street. Oh! And the house will stay up because they expect to walk through it during the trial!

That may be all old news but it was new to me.
aggiehawg

Not old news as this case has such a strict gag order on it.

So thanks for posting. Sounds like they will allow cameras in the courtroom but may delay the release of them to the end of the day, like they are doing for the hearings right now. Between Pacific Time and the delay in releasing the current hearings that have happened, really giving the legal youtubers fits with late night streams to discuss.

Once those streams are a seven to eight hour trial streams not released until 7-8 at night? Yuck!

Did you happen to hear if the judge will allow the streaming to be live/

It was supposed to be released and the landowner wanted to tear it down but the defense team asked for a court order staying that until they could work with the prosecution to decide if a walk through would be beneficial for the jury to do.

Really sucks for the landowner.

Actually that did come up. He mentioned that there would be two cameras in the courtroom and a live feed would be shared with all the media outside. I saw a tweet on Friday that had a picture of the madness outside the courtroom but can't seem to find it now.

My meeting happened last Thursday, the day before the hearing so it sounds like the judge hasn't ruled on cameras yet?

The last few hearings (in the last few days) they are recorded and then released later in the day, not streamed live has been my understanding. Have not watched extensive coverage of those hearings but my take is that this is no-nonsense judge. So he may start out allowing livestreaming but if any screw ups occur (showing a juror or an gory exhibit by accident, which has happened) he'd either cut the feeds completely or go to the delay so those accidents can be edited out.

One last thing, while I have you here. Did you get a sense that the trial will be continued or actually start in October?

Had a meeting in Pullman earlier this week. Decided I would Google the address and see the current status of the property. Surprised it's still standing.

Fenced off and guarded.

I should clarify that my "source" works at the courthouse but is not involved in the case at all. He works for the county and will be helping manage the circus. Obviously the people within those walls are talking...but also speculating on things yet to be determined.

All that said, I think the comment was something along the lines of "the latest news is that the trial will take place in October, so let's start making plans based on that".

Not sure if that's much insight though, just the latest that he's been told.
aggiehawg

Roger that. Thanks again for the info. Really appreciate it.

Most criminal law pundits I have seen have expressed serious doubts the trial starts in October for a 4-6 week trial that would bump up against the first anniversary of the slayings. But maybe the preparations will be ready to deploy and neither the state nor the defense have reasons to ask for a continuance.

I say that because there was supposed to be a preliminary probable cause hearing lasting 2 weeks this month. They had been preparing for what was pretty much a mini-trial. Then a few weeks ago, the state obtained a grand jury indictment, eliminating the need for the prelim hearing. IOW, a lot of trial prep was done in the intervening months.

The one remaining wild card here is whether the state decides on whether they will go for the DP in this case. If they do, I expect the defense to ask for more time before trial.

Okay some new motions filed. This court's docket is kind of screwy because of the gag order, things are filed but don't show up on the docket until days later.

BK did not waive his right to a speedy trial yet his attorneys filed a motion to stay due to a discovery dispute between the state and defense over grand jury materials. So that means the judge has to rule and then the materails have to be compiled taking even more time.

Also, when BK stood silent at his arraignment upon the indictment, he reserved his right to contest the indictment. So now his attorneys are saying he intends to contest it. The requested stay is to afford them time for discovery for that contest.

The chances for an October trial are looking less likely.

Thank you!
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

Another motion regarding the alibi issue and asking for more time.

In Idaho, the state can demand a notice of intent to assert the defense of alibi and did here following arraignment. That triggers a time for the defense to respond and then the state responds back with their witnesses intended to refute said alibi. Not supposed to be any surprises on that subject.

Prosecution does not object to said extension if the defense gets it to them by July 24th, a month long extension.

This is my thought. He knows his goose is cooked. This is all part of his fantasy and ability to be in the limelight with his 15 min of fame. I'd be willing to bet at some point after a guilty verdict on this case, he starts confessing to other murders just to keep his name in the spotlight for an additional 10 min of fame.
