So in reality it was Ukraine that fired missiles that landed in Poland, a NATO country, and killed two people.
Is that what is being reported?

Amazing how some here want it to be a Russian weapon, heck even a deliberate Russian attack, so we can have World War III.

If Russia was going to attack Poland, it would not be dropping a missile or two on some random farm. They would have attacked the supply base NATO is using to send weapons to Poland, and they would have used either a large number of missiles, or a nuke. If it was a Russian missile(s), almost certain it was one which either went stupid, or was incorrectly targeted.
Who here wants WW3?

Can we at least get our Mad Max garb ready?

A great deal of restraint is clearly in order here. This can not be allowed to escalate.

On a sour note, remember and be aware that overly tight and specific alliances caused the disaster of World War I by making countries mobilize and fight for things not even remotely their direct interest.

George Washington also warned about them. Lets hope you don't see repeat of WW I.

To those of you calling for restraint: You must remember that an opportunity to profit off the American taxpayer must not be allowed to slip away.

No way it is a deliberate act in the sense of a plan --- a rogue official's act like General Ripper in Dr.Strangelove is just possible.

But it has no value. Useless. Like Rapier108 said, it would be the supply base and ways Poland is impacting the general war if you are opening a new front (as insane and unwinnable as that would be).

Any word from Russia yet? That's what worries me.

Looks like S-300s and KH-101s have visually similar components. Could conceivably be air defense or Russian cruise missile.

I've got a real bad feeling about this. I read "senior intel official" as CIA and we all have a pretty good understanding of the type of bureaucrats who comprise the IC nowadays. Those who wouldn't let any good crisis go to waste.
If it was actually Russia it's undoubtedly incompetence and not intentional.

If its a rogue action it will take them a little time to track it down and lock it down; deal with it.

If its an accident, they are going to want to do the Q&A so as to have their story straight.

It will take a little time. They actually came out about Moskva not too long given precedents of the Soviet era.

I have had the garb ready ever since Covid. Might have a few more shotgun shells than Max though.

I've solved the mystery.

What you have here is a grain dump pit. Think of a bridge over a concrete hole. Planks are laid across with 3-4 inch gaps between the planks. When you tilt the truck or trailer bed up, the grain pours out the back and goes into the pit, dropping between the slats. An auger or bucket elevator picks grain up out of the pit, and conveys it overhead, and from there it goes into a bin, building or silo.

Look closely, that is a man-made pit, not an explosion crater. And Europeans don't usually use trucks to take their crop to town, they use trailers pulled by tractors.

Given that grain dust can explode, I think this is an explosion caused when someone turned on the auger or bucket elevator.

The coincidence of a missile landing precisely in a grain pit is too much to accept.

Is it possible that Russian or Ukrainian missiles landed near the same time, near the same place? Sure. But the photo below is simply an industrial accident, and because a war is nearby, people rushed to judgement.

MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry called the statements of the Polish media and officials about the fall of allegedly Russian missiles in the Pshevoduv area a provocation, there were no strikes by Russian means of destruction near the Ukrainian-Polish border. This was stated by the Russian Defense Ministry on Tuesday.

Statements by the Polish media and officials about the alleged fall of "Russian" missiles near the village of Przewowow is a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation. No strikes were carried out on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border by Russian means of destruction," the department said.

As the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized, the photos of debris published by the Polish media from the scene have nothing to do with Russian means of destruction.

Earlier on Tuesday, Polish radio ZET, citing unofficial sources, said that two missiles hit grain dryers in a village in eastern Poland, located on the border with Ukraine. The incident occurred in the village of Przewwow in the Lublin Voivodeship. According to the radio station, two people were killed. The affiliation of the missiles is not specified in the message.

Excellent work! Maybe you should inform CNN et al, before they cause a war with overheated speculation.

Except that grain dust won't explode like that, to my knowledge, in an open air dump pit. It needs to be densely concentrated in an area of low ventilation like a silo to ignite explosively.

(For context, I grew up next to a very large feed mill. Truckers always smoked at the dump area when they unloaded. Tossed cigarettes on the ground. Nary an explosion or fire in 20 years)

The fact that Polish/NATO radar can track everything within 500km (this site being within 40km), Eastern European countries, including Poland, speaking with assurance that missiles were involved, and missile fragments being found immediately at the site convinced me that this was a missile incident of some sort.

Could an impact have set off and been exacerbated by a silo explosion? Certainly. But I don't see this as being purely an agricultural incident based on the evidence at hand thus far.

Below ground pit, with little wind, it can go

Greater belief in Eastern European governments than I

I've seen photos of missile debris that is claimed to be nearby

Seems obvious that this is an explosion in the grain pit. So you must either believe that the missile hit precisely in the grain pit, or you have to believe that a nearby impact set off the grain pit, which you just told us couldn't happen.
