Once the ballot is in the mail, the fix is already in. So its going to pass an audit because its not someone who scribbled 'NOT KARI LAKE' across the top of a piece of construction paper and is trying to claim its a ballot.
There is a consortium named ERIC that has a list of known voters, voter history, and more importantly, known fake addresses that ballots can be sent to. So
someone is requesting mail in ballots, of real people, who don't vote, and asking them to be delivered to addresses that can be easily intercepted. These ballots are swooped up, filled out, and dropped back in the mail.
Or, you get ballot harvesters who go door to door and get people to fill out requests for mail in ballots. Then they come by again and remind people to turn their ballots back in. Some states have made it illegal to for ballot harvestors to take the ballots off their hands and drop them in the mail for them. Rightly so. But its pretty easy to figure out what neighborhoods to target to make sure that a huge amount of those encouraged ballots vote democrat.
