Trump really isn't reading the room at all. DeSantis hasn't said a damn thing other than being focused on his Governor's race. He hasn't said a bad word about Trump or said he is running but Trump is already going double barrelled against him. He really doesn't understand how much this turns people off right now.

He may try but at this rate he's losing support at a blistering pace. Attacking DeSantis full out is lunacy from a political perspective right now. What's really going to make him look small is DeSantis is probably going to smile and brush it off and maybe even say how much he appreciates what Trump has done. This is actually quite a gift to DeSantis. DeSantis will likely just make every press appearance about the Hurricane coming to Florida for the next several days and this gives him the perfect, "Sorry, I am focused on making sure to protect people's lives right now." backdrop. It's going to make DeSantis look that much more serious and focused and Trump that much more petty and childish.

Trump is going to lose the race before it begins at this rate.
