As a Florida resident I know that a lot of what Trump inferred about Desantis' rise has some truth to it.

Such as?

Desantis was in a very, very tight race for Governor. There was a very strong Dem push for Gillum and we were a very purple state at that point. I had a feeling Desantis would beat Gillum, but I was nervous because it was by no means a sure thing. I have no doubt that Trump's support helped boost him.

That was then. Desantis has surged forward and won people over with his leadership ability.

Meanwhile, Trump is angry typing letter because he can't post to Twitter

Trump was absolutely a huge supporter of DeSantis from the beginning and helped him get elected in '18. That's actually how I first heard about him, "The Trump candidate in Florida". Trump did go all in but make no mistake, that was very much in Trump's best interests to do so because he sure as hell didn't want Gillum running Florida in 2000 and having a win like DeSantis was a big skin on the wall.

Like I said though, DeSantis delivered and Florida went Red early in 2020. He paid back the debt. Trump is basically trying to say that since he helped DeSantis in that first race that DeSantis owes him forever and can't run for President against him. With DeSantis so strong right now it just makes Trump look weak.

Whether this is staged or just plain bad form, it's not a good look. Trump is coming across as the jealous school girl......"you're not the most popular girl in school, I am. The only reason people talk to you is they feel sorry for you."

You may be "reading the room", but I don't think you're doing it well. This board and lists of other Trump supporters seem to becoming disenfranchised.
Wasn't referring to F16 or anyone here specifically. Just a general statement about those who still worship Trump.

BTW, this is DeSantis first Tweet since Trump attacked him. He's focused on the Hurricane.

I'd rather the media talk about Trump vs DeSantis than Trump taxes, doc control, or Jan 6 incitement. Perhaps he feels the same way.

Midterm results are worse than expected for republicans, especially trump candidates.

So how does Trump respond? By attacking the one guy who crushed it in his election. Not why his policies are better, or why his candidates he supported who are now in runoff elections need your support.

Case and point of why he is election poison for any conservative future.

This is actually quite a gift to DeSantis. DeSantis will likely just make every press appearance about the Hurricane coming to Florida for the next several days and this gives him the perfect, "Sorry, I am focused on making sure to protect people's lives right now." backdrop. It's going to make DeSantis look that much more serious and focused and Trump that much more petty and childish.

Trump is going to lose the race before it begins at this rate.
The most exasperating thing Desantis could do to Trump is to ignore him. Trump craves attention. Denying him that which he craves will drive Trump crazy. He's already trying to bait Desantis into responding to his asinine rants. Desantis is too smart to take the bait. The man sounds like a madman and a child at the same time. Nobody's buying what he has to sell anymore. Desantis has the same policies, and at least he can act presidential. He's my guy.

The market expectation was that the GOP would handedly win House and contest for Senate, per the odds market. That's exactly what is happening.

The "Red Tsunami" stuff was not reflected in the betting odds. Focus on where people put their money not their mouth.

My gut right now says Trump wins the nomination, and loses the general. Trump will be hard to stop in the primary. He motivates a ton of people on an emotional level. RDS doesn't have that star power or the same level of emotional appeal.

And I agree, DeSantis just needs to ignore and refuse any questions about Trump. He (DeSantis) is on a roll on his own. Wait to address the Trump thing, if he evens needs to in two years.

His current actions.

Which are what?

He's doing 1 of 2 things

1) knowingly acting as a lightning rod for DeSantis until the primary is over

2) trying to split the vote

One will win the election, the other will lose it

I don't know which it is yet and neither does anyone else really.

I think it's No. 1. By repeatedly insulting DeSantis it's actually Trump acting as a lightening rod for DeSantis.

He's putting himself between DeSantis and those who hurt him, just like Trump did for his constituents. Trump's like that.
