Trump spent the past two years complaining that he lost, and suing trying to win pointless lawsuits.

DeSantis spent the past two years acknowledging what caused the loss, not complaining, and addressed the issues so that they wouldn't happen in his state in the future.

Trump could have played the silent kingmaker with candidates that are in the same mold as DeSantis. Outside of Lake, there hasn't been. Instead, he's encouraged the past two years of making everything in the Republican Party about himself, including these midterms. The candidates he supports have similar deficiencies.

Dems can and do gerrymander where they can, so much so that NY's Court of Appeals had to have their maps redrawn.

In an unrelated note, a lot of NY seats flipped this cycle.

BMX is right. Consolidating democrats into certain districts makes other districts easier to win for Republicans. It helps maximize the Republicans in the Texas delegation but it does give strongholds where Dems can get re-elected over and over

All district are gerrymandered. If you go back to when it was initially drawn, it was a circle, it looks nothing like it does today. But it was still gerrymandered. Initially, it was to make sure Black people had representation, now it's to make sure there as many Democrats and that district is possible.( Don't get me wrong, having the black representation is still on their mind, but it's not as important as it used to be based on a supreme court case having to do with the voting rights act)

They are drawing all these districts to obtain a specific result. That's the point.
