Couldn't agree more. Now republicans gotta figure out how to handle Trump so he doesn't fracture the party.

I can give you the answer to your question:

tell pollsters you don't support Trump
send money to DeSantis
when the RNC asks for money say "not a dime unless Trump doesn't run"
take over your local GOP chapter

and most importantly, vote against Trump in the primaries!

Then what do you do once Trump runs as an Independent out of spite?

vote DeSantis

honestly, that scenario where Trump causes DeSantis to lose in the general is STILL a better scenario for the long term interests of the GOP

than simply nominating Trump once again

How is DeSantis losing in the General any kind of winning scenario? Then you've got 4 more years of Dem control, and a stink on DeSatnis from losing to Grandpa Poopy Pants or Gavin Newsome.

Plus, you'd still probably have Trump on the sidelines stirring **** up with his worshippers even after '24.

Up until last night, I would agree with you... but looking at how the moderate votes went blue in spite of the crazy pills that America is taking right now, I can't support Trump anymore. I love his fight, but he is too polarizing and nothing will change that in the voting booths.

The time has come for Desantis to lead the nationwide conservative movement . Trump must bow out or we will be stuck with another D fool as POTUS from 2024 to 2028 imho.

If Trump really wants to Make America Great Again he must rally his base to support Desantis

it's like when Goldwater ran it set up Reagan

you have to defeat Trumpism to win again. at least if the GOP casts him out, that sets the stage for the next iteration of leadership without Trump

Trump did great things, but the dumb masses have been conditioned to hate him illogically. Trump cannot successfully lead the Republican party, but he can be that king-maker... if he pushes Desantis, and acts as Chief Agitator to democrats and the media, that would be a huge win. Plus, doing so would assure that those in congress that are appalled by the way the DOJ, etc. has acted toward him, would have plenty of motivation to investigate and possibly jail a lot of those folks.

There really is no future that involves the major cities of the country. We better figure out an exit plan or make sure the railcars are nice and comfy.

They don't have to be. There's plenty of issues to run on that would resonate with voters. But the Republican party and the candidates need to be involved in the community. The country club Republicans abandon the inner cities because they didn't want to go anywhere near them.
This is such bull***** There is nothing about a conservative agenda that appeals to the dregs of society. Idiots who think that people are where they are because of the government holding them back or a lack of opportunities are never going to change their minds and realize that the more government is involved the more things are screwed up. They need "daddies" and their hands held so a message that doesn't offer emotional and financial support is going to be frowned upon.

I don't think you understand how the Donald operates. Think bull and red cape. Desantis is wearing a red cape now. This will get ugly and fairly amusing at the same time.

Perhaps not. My fear with DeSantis is that he will be too susceptible to the mainstream/establishment right. I'm so sick of do-nothing Republicans and mainstream politicians like Abbott.

Well, he has a record you can look at with the way he has governed Florida.

Huge budget surplus, superb social record, best on covid, very good hurricane response. It's all right there

You'd be trading the best governor in the country who can be an example for other red states for a hamstring presidency that gets eaten alive.

Bad idea.
Why do you think it will be hamstrung? Neither side has really delivered their message effectively this cycle. 2024 could still very much swing the way of Republicans. The economy is still going to be bad, as long as we can get a good consistent message and quality candidates in 2024 Republicans can take over everything.

Even if he wins he will be hamstrung. Because our enemies control the levers of power in the bureaucratic state.

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Let's see how badly the MSM/Dems/Godless hurt the idea of DeSantis first. Might need Trump around a bit longer to take enemy fire while the enemy exhausts ammo.

Do nothing Republicans?

What exactly will Trump accomplish if he gets another term? The left definitely won't work with him and he's pissed off 3/4 of the GOP. He'll accomplish even less than his first term and that list isn't exactly lengthy.

If DeSantis wins the primary, Trump will do everything to cut him off at the knees to the point of running as an Independent. Voted for him twice, but I'm so tired of him looking back and not leading forward.

89% of this board just spent the last 6 to 8 years worshipping the ground Trump walked on. What small town do you think he came from? Big cities should not be given up on. That is small town talk. Plenty of folks in large cities that can be targets for the Rs.

DeSantis is term limited and has made Florida Dark Red with every Statewide official an R and a Super Majority in Both Houses. Not much left for him to do for Florida honestly except set up his replacement for success. He's ready for the bigger swamp to drain.
