Trump just needs to go away. DeSantis is all the good things about trump and none of the negatives.

Wait until the media starts their **** on DeSantis to make that comparison. Trump has faced full on attack his entire political career and is still moving forward. Love or hate, that's impressive.
it's this kind of insanity that makes me love TexAgs so much.

really?

you honestly believe a Congressman, a TWO TERM GOVERNOR of one of the largest states, and a guy who is a threat to the leftists has not faced an attack by the media?!?!

He hasn't. Not to the extent he will.

W was twice elected Governor of Texas and look what he had to endure. Newt Gingrich had been elected to Congress for almost 20 years (he started running, losing twice in his first two bids, in 1974 and ran every year after that) before he became Speaker. He even brought down former House Speaker Jim Wright on ethics charges, but he wasn't nationally known or lampooned as bad in the press until he became Speaker.

So your insinuation here couldn't be more off base.

Why would you want Trump for four years, when you could have DeSantis for eight?

Because I want Trump for 4 then Desantis for 8?

Believe people are waaaay underestimating how much voters will not want someone in the late 70's early 80's range of age as the next President. 2024 is likely to be `ageist' focused in that sense. Biden will have fully ruined the idea even for many Dems by then. Not mention all the octogenarians in the Hill destroying the near future. That too will be remembered.

Exactly

You want to run someone that old it better be Reagan. That ship sailed.

It's terrible policy. We are a young country. We need younger candidates with fire.

Actually believe we --that is the government -- is an old worn out one. With far more in common with the Politburo of the Soviet Union in the late 1980's. With septa/octogenarians and fossils steering it steadily into a ditch with self-defeating policies. DeSantis if he wins may be more like Gorbachev unless its part of a more general shake-up of membership. (and some has happened next week too)

understood titan. My point was just that we have an immense amount of young people. We are not dying out, yet anyways, like old Europe or Japan. We absolutely have to appeal to the young folks. They literally are the future.

My congressman, John Carter, great guy, has been saying this for years.

Trump is basically the Republican version of Hillary. Their supporters are rabid but there's a hard ceiling that's several points below 50% of voters and not much middle group with either of them.

Did Hilary ever actually win the presidency? I must have missed that.

If you have a point I missed it. That "difference" is pretty useless in this discussion. Both are very polarizing figures with a rabid base and a hard ceiling for their total potential support with no middle ground. That's the point. Sorry it went over your head.

"Trump is Republican version of Hillary". Hillary has lost and Trump won, actually twice. Very different versions. That simple enough?

Oh I get it completely but you've still entirely missed my point which I spelled out clearly.

Agree to disagree.
Hillary is polarizing for the things she did and got away with. Trump is polarizing because of things of which he was falsely accused.

Eh, Trump behaved like a jackass his entire presidency and that contributed to his problems. Not saying he was wrong necessarily but he wasn't "presidential" and that turned a lot of people off. That aside my entire comment was simply that both have a base of rabid supporters that will never waiver and a equal or larger group of rabid detractors with little middle ground. People either love them or hate them.

I guess I mostly give Trump a pass for his behavior when taken in context of the deep state and media's behavior. I would be pretty hot if the FBI tried to sabotage my candidacy, then did sabotage my incoming DNI, for example.

Personally I'm inclined to agree but we both know people that were turned off by his personality and his style. Nobody in my life is surprised I wasn't bothered because I'm largely the same way, just blunt and don't really care if I hurt your feelings. If you're the same way you've probably learned like I have that there are people in your life that can't take it so you've learned to manage that relationship accordingly. Those are the people that don't like him regardless of policy.

Hopefully Desantis can at least win a popular vote, something Trump was unable to do twice.

The Anti-Trump brand remains HUGE and it will be difficult to win the General election against anyone besides Hillary/Biden/Harris. This comes down to a battle between Trump's EGO and his business/marketing sense on whether to run or play kingmaker.

DeSantis 2024 is our best option.
Trump could not beat Biden with Biden hiding in his basement rather than campaigning. Newsome could beat Trump. The Independents, who decide the election, hate Trump.

It must be DeSantis for us to win.

That's not going to happen. If, IF Trump gets elected we won't win another potus term for at least 8 years. We've got to let him go…

They don't care about winning. All they care about is voting for Trump.
