I tend to agree, while I do support DeSantis over Trump, it would be very hard to defeat a former president in a primary even if the challenger is as good as DeSantis.

She is right that "hard core MAGA" will not abandon Trump

She also mentioned that they believe DeSantis owes his career to Trump. That's laughable.

But the fact that Trump is sending this out shows he is worried. And he should be.

I wouldn't say DeSantis owes his career to Trump either, but I agree with everything else she says.

Trump needs to be respectful towards DeSantis though otherwise that would turn off a lot of supporters.

I dont think this is an im scared post from Trump. I think this is a get out there and vote MAGA people for Republicans because im coming back. If he is your guy, your going to want to vote to put him in a more successful position.

This is correct but Trump also usually polls less than 50% of the total.

More people choose someone other than Trump which indicates to me that if DeSantis could consolidate that group he'd have a better shot that most people think.

DeSantis will kill Trump logistically on the campaign trail. Trump suffers from poor organizational planning and control. All DeSantis has to do is out organize Trump at the grassroots level and he'll win. Trump is not detail oriented but DeSantis is.

That would be a fascinating GOP primary to watch.

I used to think if Trump had to go thru another primary that tons of Dems would show up to vote against him in the primary. Now I think they might actually show up to vote FOR him with the thought that he would be an easier opponent to defeat in the presidential election. But who knows…

Trump is basically the Republican version of Hillary. Their supporters are rabid but there's a hard ceiling that's several points below 50% of voters and not much middle group with either of them.

The thing I like about Trump is that he does not owe anything to anyone. He is not "bought" by any one person or group. He earned all of ONE DOLLAR a year while President. This is completely different in comparison to just about every other politician. Even DeSantis.

The "Establishment" HATES Trump.

DeSantis has a likeability problem with women. He's done better, but he needs more coaching to overcome a natural "creep" factor with his demeanor (this is anecdotal from a friend who has met him several times (for legislative business not campaign format).

I really like DeSantis and think he would be a better President with Trump if he stays true to his platform that is being successful in Florida. Remains to be seen if he doesn't get swallowed by the swamp in order to make a run for 2024.

I don't think that's true, at least in the public eye.

Have several women in our family who are big MAGA types, and one uber lib that lives in Florida.

They're all on the DeSantis 2024 train.

The lib (who proudly voted for Biden) says that RD has 'bedroom eyes'.

I'll see your anecdotal story and raise it with actual data. According to Data for Progress', a Democrat polling firm, latest Florida polling. DeSantis' favorability with women is 52/47 [ https://www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/2022/10/dfp_fl_midterm_tabs.pdf ]. That is above water and better than every other person/candidate they tested. Seems fine to me.

The Anti-Trump brand remains HUGE and it will be difficult to win the General election against anyone besides Hillary/Biden/Harris. This comes down to a battle between Trump's EGO and his business/marketing sense on whether to run or play kingmaker.

DeSantis 2024 is our best option.

If you're looking at solely Presidential salary, that figure may be correct, but if you look at what Trump properties received as a direct consequence of his Presidency, the picture is not so clear.

I'm okay with either one but for those that say DeSantis doesn't have the negatives like Trump, just wait until he does get the nomination.
