This graph is not oil production. It is some sort of index showing drilling of oil and gas wells, and not an absolute number or volume of production. Here's the full graph showing all data. You can see it's highest in 1980s when I first joined the industry and the number of wells being drilled was historically high.



The fact is US oil production is a million barrels a day below what it was at peak, despite higher prices. Part of the cause is administrative and regulatory hostility towards the industry, financing being unavailable due to ESG pressures, leasing and permitting being slowed or halted, among other things within the control of the political establishment.

Shale wells can be drilled and completed in as little as 2-3 weeks, depending on availability of Frac crews. Try again. You are spewing complete garbage on a board where a ton of people work in the latest industry you claim to be an expert on.

Listened to the OPEC press conference. The cynic in me says OPEC is doing this to stick it to the Europeans and green movement. They said they've tried to have a partnership with Europe but nobody took them up on the offer. They said the prices are high not because of supply cuts, but rather European taxes on energy. And they took a shot at central bankers letting inflation get out of control and are now trying to slow growth. They said there is so much uncertainty, OPEC is simply being proactive instead of being surprised like the central bankers.
