Honest question for you. I'll preface it with the fact that I really don't care if someone is gay or not. My question is, how come the gay community isn't coming out against this in a big way? This type of stuff is going to turn a ton of people against LGBT rights. Quite frankly, I can see why the approval of LGBT people and movements has been dropping like a rock in recent years. It's gone way too far.

Honest question for you. I'll preface it with the fact that I really don't care if someone is gay or not. My question is, how come the gay community isn't coming out against this in a big way? This type of stuff is going to turn a ton of people against LGBT rights. Quite frankly, I can see why the approval of LGBT people and movements has been dropping like a rock in recent years. Not my rodeo honestly, though I do think comprehensive sex ed is important at appropriate ages - again education not a "dear penthouse" letter level of sex discussion.

I don't see anything in the story that this is gay people pushing this so why is it my issue? it's the school district and unless the gays all got together and pushed for people to get them voted in I don't see the connection. Again, we aren't a some kind of organized group. A group of gay people is just as diverse as a group of people with say brown hair. Also, you want a group of largely childless people to take a big interest in the education of children who are almost entirely the children of heterosexual people? Weird to put the burden on us in your question at all and I always question what you think we should do. As a Texan should I fly to this city's next school board meeting? Why aren't YOU doing something more?

As always, I don't know any gay groomers/pedophiles or anyone who would support others who engage in it. Knew of (post arrest) a couple straight pedopholes in my hometown that went to jail though. YMMV.

I'm genuinely trying to figure out why stuff like this keeps happening so I hope you don't take this as me antagonizing you. I would LOVE to see more gay folks come out against this. I think the gays against groomers group is awesome.

Stuff like this pushes people to be more socially conservative so I would argue it's in the LGBT community's best interest to come out swinging against stuff like this.

Those groups you just mentioned make up probably 70-80% of population. When you find the group they're all a part of pushing this bogeyman agenda you should ask them.

Again, what do you WANT gay people to do? Are you in a straight guys against grooming? If not, why not - especially if you have kids (I don't know if you do)? Seems unreasonable to expect me to be in one if you don't belong to an equivalent.

Its a good question. Where Kindergarten and early grade school is concerned would be fine with parents putting an end to any hetero sexualizing of the curriculum there too.
