University of Houston?

I went to SFA 3 semesters before transferring. I like the place, but it is definitely a sub-par school (at least the business program) where all of my friends went who couldn't get into bigger/better schools. Much like Commerce, I don't think much of it but I think if it became part of our system it would lift it up tremendously. And I see benefits to A&M having a deep east Texas school with ag related specialties.

Yep, really dumb. My parents were pretty miffed about that at the time (I'm from Longview) and it never made sense to me. SFA Longview made way more sense.SociallyConditionedAg said:YouBet said:Hopefully it's that and not a system of a system like what UT did in Longview: UT Tyler at Longview. Lol.Aggie4Life02 said:

That was so stupid. Longview was originally going to have a branch campus of SFA until a Texas alum stepped in and gave $1 million for it to be a UT Tyler satellite. Now, it's just a branch of a branch. I'm not even sure if they have in person classes there. It used to be streamed in from Tyler.

One of the smartest people I know is an SFA grad. Visionary who sees opportunities others don't.YouBet said:It was never worth much of a damn in the first place. Several of my dumbass high school buddies graduating from there are proof of that.Maroon Elephant said:
My impression of SFA is that it has changed for the worst the last 10-20 years. Not impressed.

They also have a health science center in the Museum District in FW.
The State system is probably the largest of all of them, UT may have more students though.

She played with Ronnie Laws when he was at SFA.

SFA was for all the idiots at my high school. That being said, I had fun when I went and visited there during school.

Viewed wiki below this. Had no idea the Texas State system existed. It appears to be the oldest one we have but not remotely the largest....at all.Ag CPA said:

I completely agree with this, and at the time I thought it was a missed opportunity for TAMU.Buck Turgidson said:
I agree with most of that, but changing to Texas State was a genius long term marketing move that aligns with them trying to move past Tech and UH into the #3 state school slot.
Tend to agree although my mom was pissed about the change. She graduated from SWTSU. She will also be the first to tell you that Tarleton was way more difficult than SWTSU. She did her first two years at Tarleton.Buck Turgidson said:

Tarleton University hasn't changed it's name and it's been in the system for quite a while..aTm2004 said:
Also, I don't think they'd change the name of it went into the A&M system. SFA is a well known school around the state, and I don't think A&M would want to mess that up. They may put something like "A member of the Texas A&M University System" with the brand.
