Christianity in Europe has never regularly practiced circumcision, so that's not a new trend. Circumcision was one way the Nazis would verify if a Jew was trying to pass himself off as a gentile. Christianity in the US is quite alone in the world in regularly practicing circumcision, but it has nothing to do with religion, and became a regular practice in US medicine after seeing all the problems resulting from uncircumcised GIs in WWII.

My son is circumcised. Never seemed to bother him. I asked my husband if he felt strongly about it one way or the other and we both thought it made more sense for our son to get the procedure. It's turned into more fuel for the mommy wars, virtue signaling.

I see some older au natural male patients who have significant issues because of phimosis (think foreskin scarring down into a tight ring, entrapping the *****). I also believe uncircumcised boys are much more likely to develop UTIs as kids and to carry hpv virus later.

Uncircumcised men have much higher rates of STD's period. A UTI in a circ male is very rare until you get old and get prostatic hypertrophy.

Interesting fact about circumcision. God directed both Abraham and Moses to have it done on the eighth day. The reasons why have been discussed in religious circles for centuries. Some argue that if it was the eighth day, the child was guaranteed to have experienced at least one sabbath. However, what I find most fascinating is the scientific reasons behind the 8th day circumcision that God chose not to reveal at the times of Abraham and Moses. In order for blood to clot, you need both vitamin K and Prothrombin. Vitamin K is not produced until somewhere between the fifth to seventh day after birth. Prothrombin production peaks on the 8th day at 110% of normal levels and then drops down to 100% after that. Circumcision on the 8th day is optimal for clotting. So, all that to say, this was unknown in Biblical times; God chose not to reveal the science behind it and chose instead to let man discover that for themselves. Who's to say there aren't other reasons behind it we have yet to discover? Obey God and get your son clipped.

Oh oh I'm qualified for this topic as I had an anteater until I was 29 then had a circumcision as an adult.

TMI below:

A few years before I had the procedure my skin got tight and dry to the point it started "cracking". It would take a couple days to heal up then would be fine for a month or two when sex broke those "cracks" back open. It was like a knife getting jabbed into my member. Rinse and repeat for years. Pain was excruciating.

Finally I decided to do the procedure. Best decision of my life. Have had no issues since.

They had to put me under general anesthesia to do it, with insurance cost me $1k.

A month total recovery time but for two weeks after the surgery everytime I got a chub it was painful.

A what I went through was 100X worse then a child most likely goes through for a circumcision they will never remember. I got my boy cut just a few weeks ago and he was uncomfortable for a couple days and now he will never have to go through what I did.

Get 'em cut.

Cleaner, less maintenance, less chance of painful ending
