This country doesn't even care about Hunter cheating on his wife with his dead brother's widow, knocking up a stripper, and having an incestuous sexual relationship with his underage neice. Why would it care about adultery among non-crack smoking squares?

This country doesn't care about the president cheating on his wife, paying women off and having the same lawyer who paid off those women pay for the abortion of the RNC finance chair so why would we care about Hunter Biden?
You know, the thing is, I actually did care. I condone none of Trump's BS antics. Made me sick to think that while Melania was home with baby Barron he was banging some nasty porn star. Disgusting. But yeah, I voted for him. Twice. And I would be lying if I said I didn't like most of his policy positions. He was good for our country in that regard, very good.

And who else was I going to vote for? Sucks huh?
True- - -Submit that was the dilemma that evangelist vote faced, and made in 2016. Either accept the warts-and-all candidacy of Trump, or let a definitely anti-Christian (now even looking satanic destructive) agenda continue to grow. In 2016 they voted against purist stance that had undermined them before. You are describing the same thing.

There is no easy answer to it when you can't get candidates with more of wholesome profile.
What about religions that let you marry more than one woman. Or, do you consider them non religions?
Irrelevant to the point of the evangelicals choice. Remember, you don't shape things around outliers. Those religions are not a majority of thought currently.

You can vote for someone you personally find distasteful. I have never full agreed with everyone I voted for at any point in time. Sometimes you must choose small gains over huge ones to make actual progress to where you want things to be. I chose Trump because I knew he could do that, and he did. He got roe vs wade overturned with his judges.

I am of the opinion that adultery should be punishable by a minimum of 1 year in prison for every violation and it should be the only valid reason for divorce. I also think that you should not be allowed to marry at all unless you get a religious marriage. This would ensure all marriages are religious in nature and eliminate those who just want to get married for tax purposes.

if you don't have a religious marriage, why do you even care about faithfulness? You just have a civil union for tax purposes so who cares what your spouse does? Your marriage isn't valid in the eyes of the lord anyway.

In a marriage this is effectively as bad emotionally as milking someone and people grieve in the same way as an actual death. This topic has even been glorified in modern media and Hollywood and our politicians do it all of the time. It's an absolutely corruptive force that has no business in a civilized society.

Not allowing divorce and jailing people for adultery will be the most insane post on F16 this month year. Change my mind.

This is exactly what the left says all of the time constantly, everywhere. It's continuous on Social media and dating apps. Not only that, it's straight up glorified.

Wait, you read something on social media and all of a sudden that supposed to mean something as far as what the body politic of the left is supposed to think about sexual mores and morality? Do I have to respond to every dumbass on Twitter who says something stupid because they vote for candidates that I vote for?

Confession time. I once asked for prayers as a 16-year-old boy because I had lustful thoughts and was concerned for my immortal soul. That kind of sexual purity culture is toxic, and is rampant in evangelical Christianity. The idea that you should just go around sleeping with as many people as you want without any concern Is also toxic. If you if you want me to choose which one is more toxic I'll probably choose promiscuity is more harmful than believing that an interest in boobies is grounds for eternal torture.
You asked for prayers not to have lustful thoughts and you thought that was bad?

Yes, it is bad. We are biologically hardwired to notice women and be sexually interested. There's nothing shameful or evil about that, it's toxic guilt with the looming threat of eternal punishment for merely having the same biological urges that are shared by almost everyone on the planet. Making teenagers feel like there is something not just wrong with them, but actually evil that they must cast out is harmful.

And no, that doesn't mean I'm advocating for an all you can eat porn buffet, carte blanche to be an ogling creeper, or permission to sew wild oats. I just recognize human sexuality as perfectly normal and Christian attempts to shame it ipso facto are in fact toxic.

We cared about small government when our populace wasn't absolutely bat**** crazy. We're a prison and you're saying you want to return back to the time when there were no guards because everyone was a lot nicer than, and you're failing to connect the two.
when was that? when we were kidnapping people from africa to enslave and grow our produce? when were were forcibly displacing 60k native Americans from their homes? when political machines corruptly controlled elections and entire sections of cities? when exactly was this time that the populace did not show evidence of widespread craziness and evil?
When we weren't acting like women were going to be forced into breeding farms because they weren't allowed to kill their children in some states. When a cop was able to apprehend a minority criminal without CVS burning down. When we didn't have heroin addicts littering the streets of major cities, and a family with one breadwinner could buy a house and we weren't popping anti depressants like pez.

I understand it's very cool to hate this country, and you probably get a lot of praise from your liberal friends for talking **** about ourselves but no one is perfect.
i don't hate this country. I love this country, and can do so while also admitting we collectively have done some messed up sh*t throughout our history. but I believe that this craziness and evil has been the default position of man for essentially our entire history. So if you want to get back to pre craziness and evil, you are going to have to go all the way back to the Garden of Eden. you are painting a utopian picture of the past that didn't exist. sure, those specific evils and craziness may not have existed, but that's just because it was an entirely different type of evil and crazy.

Christianity does not shame sex, it says sex is for marriage only. Song of Solomon goes deep into sex and biblical marriage. God wants us to enjoy sex, he just wants us to enjoy sex with our spouse and no one else.

OP (and others who agree) are the reason that Christians - and subsequently, the Republican Party - are viewed as whackos. Who the F*** are you to decide these things? You believe a certain way. Good for you. If that is what it takes for you to not cheat on your spouse, then for your sake, I'm glad you found some sort of aid to prevent it.

I didn't have a "religious" wedding, and if you're telling me that my marriage means nothing, then you can f*** right off. Side note: I find it super funny that OP is trying to take the religious high ground. I am pretty sure I have seen him spewing hate anytime there is a "fatty" thread that get started up. Pretty positive that Jesus loved all and showed love to all regardless of physical, religious or ideological differences.

To be a Christian, you must believe in the Triune God and believe that Jesus is True God and True Man, and that his death as the perfect lamb cleansed us of all our sins.

Mormons do not believe in the Trinity nor that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God is both truly God and Man.

Thus, Mormons by definition are not Christians.

Criminalizing adultery can't be done even if there were no logistical problems. We are a free country. Two consenting adults are free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't violate the rights of others. I suppose you can make the point that in the case of a married adulterer he or she is causing harm to the spouse, but that would be a civil damages matter, not criminal.

The prohibition on adultery is a religious tenet. People are free to follow the religion of their choice, and even us religious fanatics have the choice to accept the Holy Spirit, or not. We can only be free to follow our religion if those who choose their secular religion are free to follow their own beliefs, including adultery.

Looks like you received the same bad catechesis (or the evangelical equivalent) that so many did in the past 5 decades. Nothing wrong with appreciating the beauty of the opposite sex. It's a good desire. Use it well. Lust isn't being attracted to boobies. It's dwelling on the desire for those boobies you can't or shouldn't have and not even trying to shut it down. Unfortunately when the sexual revolution hit, it basically became "no one look at each other or your going to hell!!!!!"

I'm not saying this from a societal or economic standpoint because I don't know what that would look like, but from the standpoint of helping teenagers live moral lives, we'd be much better off teaching them that sex is awesome and the should do it as much as they can….. with one person that they've married. If you have a decent head on your shoulders and you've been properly trained on how to pick a quality spouse, you could pull that off at 18.

Humanae Vitae and theology of the body explain this. A lot more kids wouldn't struggle with Christian morality if they were taught well

Don't agree with what is being pushed, but that's just silly. Trump was very proactive to Israel, and presided over a striking accord that the national MSM pretty much suppressed given its importance along with Biden misconduct. Then there are the judges picked.

Actual knowledge of Biblical history shows little correlation between personal nature and whether God used them as flawed tools.
