OP (and others who agree) are the reason that Christians - and subsequently, the Republican Party - are viewed as whackos. Who the F*** are you to decide these things? You believe a certain way. Good for you. If that is what it takes for you to not cheat on your spouse, then for your sake, I'm glad you found some sort of aid to prevent it.

I didn't have a "religious" wedding, and if you're telling me that my marriage means nothing, then you can f*** right off. I'm not sure why I was hooked into this ridiculous topic, but I just couldn't read this anymore without saying something. The original post sounds like some cooky, cultish, mindset.

Edit: I'm a political Republican. People like this just kill the party.
Kinda weird, because all of the vigor and excitement in the Republican party is coming from people like me. The religious, populist right is driving the republican party right now, and the mamby pamby suburban "i like low taxes and pretending like social issues don't matter" voters are moving left.

They can do what they want to in other countries.

Are Mormons christian?
No, No, Hell no.

So Mormons aren't Christian, but they identify as Christian?

Do we need a pope to sort out these theological conundrums?
They don't believe in the trinitarian God, their baptism isn't accepted by any Christian denomination that I know of, so no they aren't Christian.

As for the Pope offer, no thanks already got one.

I was a libertarian atheist for 20 years before I realized absolute evil exists and came back to the church. Upon that realization a lot of things began making a lot more sense. Social conservatism based upon a devout faith in God is the only means by which a population may have any defense against cultural Marxism and the global elite. Without it, you're defenseless and you'll end up a slave ruled by people who would sacrifice your children for their own gain.

This is dumb and dishonest.

If you beat your spouse you go to jail.

The definition of divorce is separation.
Oh please. There is nothing dumb or dishonest about my post. And you're pretty naive if you think every abusive spouse goes to jail.

Confession time. I once asked for prayers as a 16-year-old boy because I had lustful thoughts and was concerned for my immortal soul. That kind of sexual purity culture is toxic, and is rampant in evangelical Christianity. The idea that you should just go around sleeping with as many people as you want without any concern Is also toxic. If you if you want me to choose which one is more toxic I'll probably choose promiscuity is more harmful than believing that an interest in boobies is grounds for eternal torture.

So basically because the left is being authoritarian, the right should abandon liberty and western democratic thought for right wing authoritarianism? Sounds like a great plan...

And this is why we have a separation of church and state.

Except that we don't have that. Fire departments show up when a church is on fire. Police show up when a crime has been committed. Church buildings are still subject to some regulation. The so-called separation you speak of is a mythical political concept made up by people who want to keep church or faith-based matters (and people) out of government. But there's no constitutional authority for it.

The establishment clause of the first amendment never intended for an actual separation of church and state. The establishment clause itself is the actual constitutional authority, not a bad metaphor originally coined by a guy (Thomas Jefferson) who was in France when the constitution was drafted and who's opinion means nothing more than your's or mine on the issue.

I don't see a problem with religious marriages and civil unions/marriages. Not everyone is Christian or religious in any way. The government is prohibited from establishing religion and the OP's views would, I believe, be in opposition the the first amendment.

That said, Marriage should not be so easily dissolved… especially when minor children are involved.

This country doesn't care about the president cheating on his wife, paying women off and having the same lawyer who paid off those women pay for the abortion of the RNC finance chair so why would we care about Hunter Biden?
You know, the thing is, I actually did care. I condone none of Trump's BS antics. Made me sick to think that while Melania was home with baby Barron he was banging some nasty porn star. Disgusting. But yeah, I voted for him. Twice. And I would be lying if I said I didn't like most of his policy positions. He was good for our country in that regard, very good.

And who else was I going to vote for? Sucks huh?
True- - -Submit that was the dilemma that evangelist vote faced, and made in 2016. Either accept the warts-and-all candidacy of Trump, or let a definitely anti-Christian (now even looking satanic destructive) agenda continue to grow. In 2016 they voted against purist stance that had undermined them before. You are describing the same thing.

There is no easy answer to it when you can't get candidates with more of wholesome profile.
