I was just about to post a thread on this, so I'll just post what I had here.

Highland Park is a Democrat stronghold, voting 80% or more for the Democrat in presidential elections.

It also has strict gun control including a full "assault weapons" ban.

Multiple reports say the shooter was on top of a building and has not been captured.

As usual, Twitter is in their usual meltdown blaming guns, Trump, the NRA, white supremacy, the Patriot Front, etc. etc. etc.

This country is coming apart and while it started under Trump with the response to the WuFlu, we probably would have recovered from that, mostly, but now FJB put a rock on the accelerator and opened the nitrous to maximum.

There are also reports of an active shooter in the Detroit area, but appears to be a barricade situation and someone popping off rounds rather than an active shooter.

All of this is based on live reporting so obviously subject change, and a lot of contradictory info from witnesses.

Reports are between 5 and 9 dead with 50+ injured. (Probably some of the injured are from running away, not gunfire.)

Some say the shooter was on top of a commercial building, but others say he was on the ground.

One video from the shooting is pretty rapid, steady gunfire. Obviously no idea if the shooter just was good with the trigger, used some kind of device to make the gun fire that way (bump stock, Glock full auto switch, etc.), or it was an actual full auto weapon.

They really want to ban the guns, don't they?

Didn't Rino Cornyn , Pelosi and Shuler just pass some laws that made this kind of thing illegal?

They just need to pass more gun laws until it stops.

The left has been promoting F the Fourth for the past week.

I feel strongly that this person has broken existing laws, no need for new laws, in fact, probably should ditch a few existing laws in that town to allow good people to defend themselves and families

Local media is blaming guns, bringing up Uvalde and Buffalo, saying we must end the "debate on gun rights and fix this problem."

Doesn't Chicago have the strictest gun laws in the country?

Shooter was on a rooftop.

Weapon was a rifle, but type not named, but safe to assume most likely an AR or AK type. Would be surprised if it was another type of semi-auto rifle like a Mini-14 or SCAR.
