And 25 miles south of Highland Park in Chicago 55 shot and 7 fatalities. No mention of this on the national news,

My same thoughts. The description of the shooter is typical of a social outcast.

My maternal grandparents moved from Chicago to Texas when my mother was nine, and I was raised on Chicago history and lore. It was and is a great city run by organized crime originally connected to Unione Siciliano and through corrupt politicians but now consolidated under the democrat party. My grandfather would laugh when people here talked about corruption in Texas or Louisiana and then tell them in detail about Chicago corruption.

We quickly knew he was white though.

The majority of violent crimes have always been committed by young males.

The 18+ in theory have graduated high school and are now "adults". Could be they don't have a plan for what to do with their lives, no structure, no financial means, been shamed in school for their race/gender and now taking it out on society? Who knows. We need to figure it out though.

Due to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian issues and the heavily Jewish demographics of HP, I would not rule out either far left or far right motivations. Possibly even pro-Palestinian or pro-Muslim militancy as well since the shooter was described as "white".

You would have asked me yesterday, what are the odds of an incident like this, I would have said 85-90%.

100% agree with you. Come into my house... get shot. But Texans right now shouldn't be talking **** about how to handle shooters. This is not a left right thing. This is a we have raised a ton of 18 to 21 year old who now think this an option thing. When I was a kid, before you took innocent folks with you, you took yourself out. Now, we have a new option.
