These people don't think. A few things were well known before the war. We had supply chain issues, energy markets were tight after resurgence of demand and years of under investing for new supplies, and inflation was high meaning the Fed was going to take action which would slow down the economy.

The US economy was already headed for trouble yet these idiots didn't have the vision to see that by sanctioning a country that is a commodity superpower was going to harm us like them. Rosneft and Gazprom have record profits and have declared record dividends. Russian oil is still being sold on global market. The West actually needs Russian oil on global market otherwise we'd be at $200+ so WTF is the point of these sanctions if it's hurting us.

We went into this totally unprepared. That's the West fault not Ukraine and that sucks for them but the West is not obligated to protect them against Russia. "If your enemy is superior, evade him. If angry, irritate him. If equally matched, fight, and if not, split and reevaluate."

Support for Ukraine is falling. Today the far Left gained greater control in France because the people are pissed about inflation.

3. They got a scape goat to blames stuff on (money printing and O&G suppression are the causes of the pain, but they can shift the blame to 'putin price hikes'.
4. It's a fertile for money laundering.
5. They can take credit for 'victories' while remaining insulated from set backs.
6. Russia is being bled of resources and shrunk within the global stage.
7. Advancing 'Green' strategy in disguise

I hate it, but it's one of the few things that they're doing that (from their perspective) is working out.

A bad economy has never been a net positive for the incumbent party when the next election cycle rolls around. So this is bad for 'Team Blue'.

Great breakdown. Listened to over the weekend. Russia has made close to $100B in revenues over the first 100 days of the war.

Layer in the coming recession and food & fertilizer shortages, support is going to dry up fast.

We can't just keep printing money to give to the UA. When people stateside can't afford to eat or full up their vehicles, it's going to come to a head.

We could be going all out to increase our own supply and output and show futures markets that future investment and supply is secure and that would drop O&G prices quickly, and eat into Russian profits, but this administration is too ideologically possessed to do that.
