This kind of statement reads hypocritical to me. I am very conservative/right wing and couldn't care less if he's "one of us".

As long as he allows both sides to have a voice, that's what I and all conservatives should care about.
Conservatives need to get better at building their own platforms, not crying when their political enemies kick them off of platforms they (the left) created. It's why people on the right laughing at or not supporting alt tech like Truth, Gab, Odysee, Rumble, etc. are morons.

This appears to be a win for the time being. My point was simply to not to trust multibillionaires simply because they are pro free speech. It is possible to be pro free speech and still be a globalist / socialist / whatnot.

If Musk makes Twitter a place for discussion and unbiased information, without using it as a platform to control information for a particular political message and influence elections, then his personal political beliefs really don't matter regarding ownership of the platform.

If he makes both conservatives and liberals upset, then he probably is doing it right.

I absolutely appreciate what Musk is doing....but defending free speech should not be contingent on an unelected official.

CNN+, Disney, and now Twitter. Left-wing media dominance may be coming to an end. Let's welcome a new era of free speech, competing ideas, truth, and destruction for child groomers.

For sure but the divide is on a steep break over the last 10 years

Between Tesla, spacex, Twitter and all of Twitters subsidiaries Musk is going to arguably be the most powerful entity in the world. The amount of information, AI, tech, etc he owns will control whatever he wants

Defending free speech should be everyone's job, not just elected officials.

But if the choice is between a government agent and a private one, I'll take the private one any day of the week. Last I checked, private entities have no authority to arrest me for my free speech.

I don't see what this has to do with Musk buying Twitter. This more akin to CNN or the NYT being taken down a notch in their influence (an added bonus) - not Musk being elected to represent conservatives.

CNN+ was a non issue. Disney isn't going anywhere. Twitter will be interesting over the next few years but I don't believe he bought Twitter to help free speech. Musk bought Twitter for the information

But they can ensure you are homeless with no way to hold a job or obtain money. The constitution needs to be applied to private entities as well at this point as corporations own the government.

He doesn't have to be one of us, he just has to refuse to ban people who hold different points of view.

He'll still likely keep some sort of anti trolling and harassment policy, which will make some people mad, but it should be waaay better than before. No banning of Hunter Biden laptop or lab leak stories. No elimination of discussions on, say, the tradeoffs between economic damage and public health benefits when considering pandemic lockdowns.

I don't care if somebody disagrees with me, I just want them to stop trying to censor me.
Yup. Twitter wasn't an equal playing field. And no one can justify them banning conservative accounts but allowing CCP and Taliban accounts. Having said that, there are some conservative accounts that are among the most popular on the website.

I personally dont care much about who owns it because that site is a dumpster fire of negativity anyway. But people losing their s*** over this are idiots.
Social media is a Balkanized mob with one faction having significant superiority over the other and disunity, anger, hatred, and hostility are blossoming.

Seven and three are ten, not only now, but forever. There has never been a time when seven and three were not ten, nor will there ever be a time when they are not ten. Therefore, I have said that the truth of number is incorruptible and common to all who think. — St. Augustine

Whats your opinion on Disney vs DeSantis?
By making Disney equitable with all other commercial landowners and theme park operators in Florida?

I thought it was all about equity these days and not mouse privilege and only mouse lives matter and such.

People who see the DeSantis vs Disney as some sort of free speech issue are a special kind of dense.

Can anyone imagine what Trump woulda been like if he were drunk much of the time?
