2 breakthroughs - of I'm sure many - that make Elon easily correct, and likely not dependent on each other
- electricity transmission innovation to near 100%
- solid state batteries
We have a model x and it fits our needs at about 3000 miles a month with ~95% of nights being able to charge at the house or a hotel. It goes fast, but suspension sucks and drivability rating is low. I liken it to a drag racing minivan. But it's cheaper than the v8 we replaced to operate by about $1200/mo net fuel, electricity, insurance, tires, and maintenance so far. And it's great as a mobile living room. My car has not exploded (yet) or burned down the metro area I live in (yet).
Like Ron Paul, I think government interference is always bad and shouldn't happen. But also like Ron, if government is going to do something, and I can't prevent it, and then those dollars can benefit me personally - I'm going to participate otherwise the benefit just goes to someone else at my expense.
Does Tesla, or EVs in general, exist without government? Maybe, maybe not. But I do know that government exists.
I like this thread. It's anti-EV-angelists creating a thread to antagonize people that have made a personal choice to own an EV. It's the opposite of the claim of EV-angelists promoting EV ownership. I don't recall many threads going 197 pages of EV owners telling everyone else how dumb they are. None the less, glad it exists - I'm enjoying everyone's participation on both sides.
