Same EVangelsits getting their faces smashed in. This thread never gets old.
I'm not sure if people genuinely believe someone is going to say, "Wow, if some people say I'm a moron for not believing this, it clearly must be true."

It's not much a persuasive argument. It really just sounds like a bunch of miniature dachshunds barking because the first one one barked when it thought it heard something.

The Chinese are so far ahead of America and the EU when it comes to making cheap EV's, that I'm not sure even tariffs AND moving to Mexico will be enough protection.

Slightly off-topic but damn I wish we had Skoda (a flavor of VW) in the US market, this is pretty cool; up-armored SUV.

Comically gross sounding 'electric juice' with every Chevy Equinox EV test drive. LOL. No thanks.

I think you have to take into consideration lower safety standards on the ChiCom vehicles, lower and faster build quality, lack of Detroit unions in ChiCom territory, and lack of pressure for quarterly profits thanks to heavy ChiCom government incentives.
Trump will fix it.

Negative Equity surge hits EV owners hardest (shocker):
Quote:

Electric vehicle buyers are among the most likely to see high levels of negative equity. A staggering 46% of EV owners in CarEdge's study were underwater on their loans. Plus, of the 16 brands included in the study, Tesla owners had the lowest median equity at -$1,718, compared to $8,166 among Toyota owners.

So much for that EV 'value proposition.'

Yeah when Tesla started lowering prices the bottom fell out of the used car market. Resell values plummeted. It really put the hurt on Hertz which was counting on resell values.

Devastating.

Exactly. Tesla dropping prices hurt their previous customers. The potential for further price drops and for innovation is why I leased my Tesla, first car I've ever leased. That and it's the only way for me to take advantage of the tax credit. I believe a page or so back nortex was ridiculing the high rate of leasing as financially illiterate

Imagine being upside down on the EV you bought to save money (operating costs) but your situation has changed and EV is no longer viable.

Numbers telling me this is reality for some EV owners now. You get what you earn in this life.

That is sadly hilarious.

"Look! No gas bill. No oil changes. I'm doing my part to save the earth."

"Sir, I'm sorry to tell you this but you're way upside down on your car loan. You owe far, far more than it's worth."

Good thing I paid cash for mine and plan to keep it 5 more years, so even if I give it away then it will cost about $500/month, which I am fine with.

Gov DeSantis warned EV drivers to park on higher ground.
Quote:

Florida's roads contain 255,000 EVs, according to the US Department of Energy, making it the second most popular state for electric vehicles. California has 1.2 million EVs and third-placed Texas, just over 230,000. And a significant 42,000 of Florida's electric cars are located in the Tampa Bay area, a region that was expecting to experience high water levels resulting from storm surges, Fast Company reports.

Since we're all told from a young age that water and electricity don't mix, the prospect of being caught in a storm in or near an EV could be alarming. But Citrus County Fire Rescue put out a Facebook post to assure residents that a submerged EV doesn't electrify water. It can, however catch fire, and it cautioned people to be alert for smoke or popping and whistling noises coming from any EV that has been in contact with water that has now drained away.
LOL…there's not a whole lot of 'higher ground' in coastal Florida, to my recollection. "Listen for popping and whistling noises."

Imagine getting stuck in flood waters while trying to evacuate. EVs will never completely replace ICE, IMO, for this and other reasons.

If you are an EV owner in FL, it sounds like you better be prepared to always completely evacuate. Or perhaps you have them install a hydraulic lift in your driveway.

As an aside, I'm tempted to buy a Tesla not because of the EV part but because of the self driving stuff.

I watched a video the other day on the "fetch" feature where the guy called his Tesla to come to him at Costco. It drove itself from the parking space to the front door.

Elon and his team are doing great stuff.

Love how you guys continue to ignore the documented risks of fire after flooding.

Well well well. Let's examine your lies and mischaracterizations, very typical for this account.

Quote:

No one said the risk of fires from flooded vehicles doesn't exist.

On the contrary, this statement has been made repeatedly in this thread. Several arguments about how vulnerable Teslas are to hurricane flood damages have been recorded the last time a big one hit Florida.

Quote:

We are dunking on you for saying this stupid comment:

"Stupid" is an uninformed opinion of the comment at best and an ad hominem at worst. The comment in question remains factual.

Quote:

Then you just started making up about a foot of water being impassable for EV's.

I've already listed one of dozens of recent articles showing that flood waters are detrimental to EVs. The fact that you have created a strawman out of the 12 inches part of my statement shows that, once again, gac06 is just wrong.

But do keep on. I think these exchanges make you feel better about yourself in some weird way.

First of all, a strawman would be attributing an argument to you that you didn't make. You said one foot of water. That's your stupid claim you couldn't back up, aka a lie.

As for this:

" On the contrary, this statement has been made repeatedly in this thread."

You are the one making a strawman out of 12 inches. 10, 12 or 120 inches, flood waters are detrimental to EVs. Fact.

I agree EVs are dumb.

I agree that backing up my statements will just result in you blithely calling them lies again. It's what socks do.
