I didn't read any articles about them laying off the team (wasn't interested) but my first thought, they needed a scorched earth reboot of their Super Charger team.

if I could put a gas station in your garage that would pump gas at $1/gallon and have you at 280 mile of range with the caveat that you would have to go to pump gas taking 30 minutes to get 80% range if you ever need to go over 280 miles in a day. Would you think this is a bad deal?Bubblez said:Wake me up when every house has a gas pump.Philip J Fry said:
That's cute. Wake me up when it's 0-100% in 3 minutes and available at just about every major intersection.
Reading this sentence made my head hurt.Quote:

For people like me w plenty time on their hands, this is trivial peanuts my friend. 2 oil changes a year takes me 30 minutes out of my year at 5 minute lube. I haven't changed brakes on one of my cars in at least 20 years, brake pads last almost as long as a car does. Belts and timing belts? I've never changed them on my cars, never. Get gas every few weeks, again another 20 min out of my life… LMAOMedaggie said:
Fair enough. From my POV, you would have to drag my Tesla out of my hands if you want to make me use an ICE as my daily driver. I could not imagine having to pump gas every week, go get an oil change every 3 months, brakes every 2 years, timing belts, fluids for the great benefits of paying 3x for gas. Not to mention having a similarly priced car driving slow as molasses using 5-10 yr old Tech.
I get some people still like flip phones, more power to you
You stumbled upon a point, actually. Gas stations have incredibly complex/detailed safety standards/requirements, which is part of the reason I don't want a tank/station under my house/in my home (let alone the risk of thermal run away a huge lithium battery vehicle represents). It's much safer/convenient to handle that remotely once a week etc. This is the model that works best for the overwhelming majority of the public.Medaggie said:if I could put a gas station in your garage that would pump gas at $1/gallon and have you at 280 mile of range with the caveat that you would have to go to pump gas taking 30 minutes to get 80% range if you ever need to go over 280 miles in a day. I know most of my friends with ICE cars would jump at this deal.

The obsession here is crazy to me. Every bad news gets posted like its true without context. Many companies do what Tesla does and no peep. Tesla does something similar and the sky is falling. Musk likes to clean house when he sees that they are lagging to get them focused. Everyone has their speculation, but to just jump to conclusion that Supercharging/EV/Tesla is a failure is reaching.
Anyone who reads the car ratings rags has no clue that they are all completely biased. I have read EV reviews and the top 10 doesn't even have Tesla when they are by far the most popular car. I have seen the Jaguar EV ahead of them and they are not even being made anymore. Its like having the top 10 basketball player ever not having Jordan or James, it just reeks of bias.
Some of you guys sound like Biden. Showing up for an EV presentation with Ford/GM/Stellanits and saying they are leading the EV revolution and all 3 CEOs with the fake smiles knowing that its just a publicity stunt.
Most of these EV criticism would be more apt to other EV makers because they all have major faults but to single out Tesla without mentioning the other money losing/close to bankrupt EV makers just reeks of ignorant bias.

Well, considering Trump had gas in the $2 range and the only reason it's as high as it is now is because Biden is actively working to make it more expensive…no and hell no. I would not take that deal.
Requiring a 30 minute charge to 80% makes you tied ball and chain to your house every night. I prefer my freedom to travel without worrying about running out of fuel.
What if I can't park it in my garage?Teslag said:Philip J Fry said:

If it's a daily driver why does it matter how long it takes to charge at home?
Why is that cute? I fail to see the awesome buuuuuurn.agent-maroon said:

EV owners really confuse me.
If my backup car fills every need I have, why would I go buy a primary car that I can only use during the week?
Because I have always had more than one car that serve different purposes. I've had up to 6 at a time. I have an EV that get's me to work and back, a truck to go into the mountains with my dog and an SUV to go out to dinner with my wife. I don't know very many households with just one car.Philip J Fry said:

You could use that 3/4 diesel truck as a daily driver, though not exactly fit for purpose.
