EVs could be good products but the government thumb has been on the scale to help them out for years.

Truth is, EVs suck and ICE are awesome.

SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!!!

And yet you have the government regulator forcing a recall over font size and wanting the driver assist to be more big brother like. Funny how the anti mandate crowd is ok with this kind of government action.

If they made recalls like this on ICE vehicles there would be a bunch of posts that the government is trying to force EVs on us.

I think the government making font rules is stupid af. As to the "and wanting the driver assist to be more big brother like" that has to do with enforcing the levels of autonomy that have been authorized.

The autonomy levels are still not mature enough to let the basically novice "pilots" drive the cars.

So how often do the regulations require interaction with the car? GMC is advertising with drivers totally hands off and playing we will rock you with their hands no where near the steering wheel. Is that within the regulations?

Well, I've done that kind of thing since the 80s...HOWEVER, unless that vehicle is certified as SAE level 3, then probably not. Could be some states have legalized that, but most haven't.

Yes the do. Levels of autonomy like that are no different than the EVs that have them.

The levels of autonomy are defined by SAE as to what is done by the vehicle and what is done by the driver or some other entity.

Every state and even local district can or has some kind of regulation on what they'll allow in their jurisdiction.

This is Blue Cruise. It is a level 2 system. It is hands-free. It is engageable in basically every state in the country.

This is a video from Ford's official Youtube page describing what it authorizes

This is an explanation of Blue Cruise, their autonomous system, what level it's certified for and what the driver is responsible for doing:

Quote:

What About the Driver?

Since BlueCruise is a Level 2 system, when driving, you need to stay alert and pay attention to the road ahead. There is a driver-monitoring system in the vehicle that observes your head position and your eyes to make sure you're paying attention to the road. If it senses that you're becoming tired for example, if your eyes start to close or if you start to do any other activities while behind the wheel, such as looking down at your phone the system will send a warning. If you don't pay attention to the road soon after the warning, the system will stop operating.

Tesla is required to have both driver monitoring (on the vehicles with that capability) and the driver has to indicate attentiveness by interacting with the wheel (either speed changes or a slight turn of the wheel). This is the problem you had on the Cybertruck thread in that you assumed you understood the capabilities of the systems and the requirements from regulators rather than actually trying to understand what they are.

This is a drive of a 2023 Model S on Tesla's FSD V12. There is no driver control during the entirety of the video. The touches of the steering wheel are required by regulators to indicate driver attentiveness (i.e the touches of the steering wheel do not translate to the wheels) and the regulators also require eyes on the road as determined by the in-cabin camera. That's in contrast to GM and Ford's systems which merely require eyes on the road.

I never said anything about ICE owners or the anti mandate crowd complaining especially because most of them have never been inside a Tesla to see the font size. I said government agents seem to be targeting Musk and Tesla on every little thing. Why would they? Musk is anti UAW, Musk is anti DIE, etc. it is interesting that some people on this thread that are anti EV complained about the Delaware ruling this week saying Biden and Co are targeting Musk but I guess they wouldn't target Tesla cars.

Show any proof of your claim that Tesla owners complained to the regulators about any of this? Saying the anti mandate crowd seems to be ok with government overreach is a lot different than saying they complained to get the recall implemented.
