Over the last couple weeks I have noticed just in my neighborhood alone here in McKinney several homes have blue and yellow ribbons or even the Ukrainian flag flying in their yard and then there's of course a lot of Ukrainian flags posted on peoples Facebook profiles.

Is this the current trendy thing to do that brings people warm cozy fuzzy feelings?

I guess I don't see the big problem with that. Their country is being invaded.

It's slacktivism and virtue signaling, which is absolutely a problem.

And virtually everybody in my neighborhood who has some form of Ukrainian recognition are liberals I wonder why that is?

When this war is over do they take all the stuff down and the Ukraine love is then over?

True but there's other nations that are being attacked by other nations maybe not right at this moment but in recent years and we never posted those countries flags in our yard or put their colors around a tree

No, but we invoked article 5 after 9/11 and drug European countries into middle eastern sandboxes and got their folks killed for something that had nothing to do with them. Don't remember any Americans taking issue with that move at the time.

Since you put it that way, I agree. If all you're doing is putting money in some retailer's pocket in order to virtue signal and feel good about yourself then it's pretty lame. If folks want to support then they should use their money in order to do something that actually has an impact.

I'm not trying to make you feel embarrassed, I just saw it as some good old fashioned texags ribbing. I apologize if that hurt your feelings. However to get back to the Ukraine topic, it's pretty clear to me that your post was definitely an attempt paint support for Ukraine as another liberal outrage of the week, and I'm sure for some people it is. However due to its proximity to Western Europe there has been a ton of news coverage, and people are able to empathize with Ukrainian citizens.
So no I don't find this weird at all, Americans are a giving people at heart and you see Americans give monetary and verbal support to many countries for other man made or natural disaster.

Just saw this post. I guess if you're against just the use of flags as a virtue signal but not doing anything else, I guess you have a point, but I bet if someone is willing to spend money on a flag they are likely to spend money for humanitarian efforts.

I'm guessing Ken Paxton said something negative about Zelensky.

No propaganda. Just facts. Azov regiment (not actually a battalion) exists. No, it's not some marker of an influential Nazi presence in Ukraine. Not going to derail this thread like so many others. Clearly you've done minimal research and aren't terribly well informed. Start a thread and I'll deconstruct any point you wish to make on the importance of the existence of Azov.
