I've seen exactly one of these flags. Well, my daughter did when she was jogging in the neighborhood during Spring Break. Not sure why this is a big deal.

I guess I don't see the big problem with that. Their country is being invaded.
So then you also support the Azov battalion fighting for Ukraine?

The Azov angle has been largely debunked as an issue. Repeatedly. Would you like for me to provide you some info?
Please debunk this sir or madam.

No problem. Not. A. Defining. Element. Of. Ukraine.

Azov battalion is Ukraine's element of the Klu Klux Klan, except that they're officially part of the military.

Imagine having an openly racist arm of the military then making excuses for them. They may not represent the entire country, but Ukrainians haven't had much problem with a Nazi military battalion.

I'm sure there are people who genuinely want to show solidarity with Ukraine for the wrong being done to their country...but I also wouldn't be surprised if lot of the people displaying Urkraine flags roll their eyes at Americans that prominently display the American flag, especially under Trump.

All these response and no proof of all the supposed Ukraine flags and colors in peoples yards. Drove to work in Central Austin. Work in one of the most Liberal, Woke areas and did not see on Ukrainian flag.

Exactly. Some of these same people wouldn't fly the American flag if we got attacked tomorrow because to do so would be too jingoistic or nationalistic or something.

I know this is a shock to you, but it's possible to hold these beliefs at the same time:

Putin is an evil, corrupt dictator, who illegally invaded a sovereign country.

Ukraine is corrupt at many levels, has some awful people fighting for them, and still should not have been invaded.

When the American left is wholeheartedly virtue signaling for one side, when leftist and communist politicians in the United States are throwing billions of dollars at one side, then those of us one the right should have our eyes open, one hand on our wallets, and the other on a firearm.

Good grief, Some of y'all are so damn petty. The Ukrainians are fighting for the same thing we fought the Brits over. Freedom. Yes, Ukraine has been corrupt in the past, but how much more so than the US. Some of y'all need to pull the plank from your eye.

The government was corrupt, not the people. I support the people of Ukraine and a president(Zelensky) that is standing tall and not tucking his tail and running. They are literally putting their life on the line to not be overtaken by an oppressive, brutal, authoritarian regime. Yes, the deserve to be supported by any means necessary.

I swear, some of y'all sound more progressive with these posts just trying to find SOMETHING to be offended by.

I agree except be supported by any means necessary. I'm not willing to fight for them or send my sons and daughters. I admire and am pulling for them. It's time Europe stand up and fight.

It's the contrast that bothers a lot of us. My greatest frustration about western civilization in general and America specifically is the overwhelming amount of self-loathing there is. So to see people cheering on another country in this way by (many, but not all of course) people who constantly slam American patriotism and self-interests is annoying.

I hate what's going on. I went to Russia in 2018 and the whole crew of our ship consisted of young Ukrainians, like 19-21 years old. We were the first Americans to ever make that trip by river from Moscow to St. Petersburg. 2 weeks, 3000 miles. Most of the crew were college students working the boat seasonly. It's crossed my mind several times that some of those same people I befriended might be dead or involved in combat right now.

It doesn't make me insensitive to their suffering to also be cynical about how Americans react to it.

Basically, here's my barometer on the flags. If you already had an American flag out at your house or on your car and you want to fly a Ukrainian flag too then that's great. But if you wouldn't dare to put our own flag up at your house or on your social media posts because you don't want to be one of those "flag waving right wing nationalists" but are flying a Ukrainian flag now then go **** yourself.

Thing is, there's about as many on the right as on the left that support, or as some on the right would say, virtue signaling, for Ukraine.

My concern is not Ukraine. Though I would argue they are fighting for Independence, which is why we fought the Brits. Time will tell if they want Freedom.

However, my concern is the American Left, including people like Soros. They are demonstrably anti-freedom, yet they appear to be all in on the Ukrainian side.

I do not trust their motives.

And I am happy to watch the Russians get their butts kicked all the way back to Moscow

Bernie honeymooned in Russia, back when the leaders were even worse than Putin

The only reason he is anti Putin is the false narrative that Trump is pro Putin

The US didn't really lead the defense though.

Ukraine has been begging to buy more defensive weapons for many years now to keep Russia out. They are fighting their asses off to keep that freedom. After the invasion, the US "smart guys" said that Kiev would fall within 48 hours. Europe led the effort to help arm the Ukrainians and the US came along pretty late in the game. I think the WH has plenty of blame for how this has gone so far. Should have been stopped before it even started.

I think we are doing the right thing now in providing them weapons and intelligence. Putin has no right to that free country. I hope Ukraine somehow wins (at least partially) and remains free. I really don't give a damn if CNN is praising the Biden administration for supporting Ukraine.

The left were always incredibly defensive of the USSR. You'd get mocked for even criticizing them. "Ooooh, there's a communist around every tree waiting to get you, haha!" and such. The real "threat" to the world in their minds was someone like Reagan.

But now that communism in Russia is dead and they have a (relatively) free market economy and they're opposed to globalism, trans-sjw bull****, and having (admittedly extreme) concerns about their borders and nationalist tendencies they're the arch-enemy like never before.

Look, Putin is an old school KGB thug. He's a murderer and a tyrant and is as close as we have to a modern day Hitler. The whole thing is very concerning to me, he is truly dangerous to everyone. But watching the American left actively destroy our country while only now after nearly a century of global communist threat are they rah-rah about defeating Russia makes my hairs stand on end.

I get that, but if he and AOC didn't exist, it still doesn't take away from every other American, left and right, supporting the Ukes.

Communists aren't actually idealists. They're just corrupt (see Bernie's umpteen mansions) and communism makes it easier to hide their corruption.

Ukraine is the slush fund for US corruption for decades and Bernie & AOC are no exception.
