Bernie honeymooned in Russia, back when the leaders were even worse than Putin

The only reason he is anti Putin is the false narrative that Trump is pro Putin
I get that, but if he and AOC didn't exist, it still doesn't take away from every other American, left and right, supporting the Ukes.

On a gut level, I support Ukraine. Every country should be in control of their own borders, unlike what the Democrats do to the USA.

If it doesn't make you suspicious that suddenly the AOCs, Bernies, Soroses, etc of this world are doing a 180 and magically in support of strong borders, nationalism, armed citizens, anti-communism, anti-Russia...

...then you are naive or just not paying attention.

mostly they are behind Uke because now they can blame everything on Putin; watch the rest of year leading up to midterms, it'll be all Putin's fault for everything, it might work if this keeps going.

So support for Uke masks the terrible policies they have enacted

All that is spot on, except that they're not supporting anti-communism. Russia is not communist. Moscow looks like Dallas now. One whole side of Red Square is the Gum department store. The irony of that was so strong to me when I was there that it was really emotional. Having this massive high class department store, a beacon of capitalism, right on what was the center of communism for the 20th century was really moving.

Ukraine Love = Trump hate

You can slap your blue and yellow flag on your Twitter profile or FB page all you want, I'm just a dumb hick who thinks much of this is Trump related hate.

In the minds of libs, orangeman = Russia/Putin, and we all know orangemanbad.

So if orangemanbad, then Urkraine = good.

And we all know the ties corrupt Ukraine has with the corrupt Biden family (and dozens of other corrupt politicians), which only adds to the Ukraine love.

I think for them, and most people, it's just being boiled down to one country invading another that is friendly with us and it could spill into allied countries, so we should help them.

If the Bernie and AOCs have actually said in the past month that they support nationalism, strong borders, armed citizens in peace times, etc., then I missed that.

I get that we're all used to bringing politics into every aspect of life, but this one is different. Probably why there's equal support for the Ukes on both sides.

Go by what they do, not what they say, If they support Ukraine, they support the above.

Just like when they try to "tax the rich", they are supporting communism.

It's quite simple.

They're supporting a politician ideology, though. Wouldn't that be like saying every Christian is at fault for what other Christians do when they do evil?

Also, I seriously doubt Bernie and AOC are giddy at what Putin is doing to the Ukes.

No it's not. That's ridiculous. I support Ukraine trying to keep their country soverign and free. I supported Trump.

I'm sure Ukraine has some real aholes in their military. I'm sure that they have some aholes that want Ukraine to become Russia. And I'm sure the Russians have some undercover operators enflaming all of these aholes to cause division. Just like they do with us.

I guess I've never cared about corrupt Eastern European countries. And I'm pretty sure white suburban liberal housewives and beta males waving a Ukrainian flag never cared about corrupt Eastern European countries either...until CNN, Twitter, and Hollywood told them to care.

Knowing Ken Paxton he'll probably see liberals waiving Ukrainian flags in an act of solidarity and then form a task force to investigate them as communist sympathizers or something.

Isn't it generally recognized that an upside down flag is a symbol of distress?

So it might be intentional or it might be unintentional. You really can't say without more information.

For what it's worth, we flew the Ukrainian flag upside down for the first week as well until my wife noticed our error. It's sad that we easily rip those in which we disagree...but a couple of 60+ white conservative Republicans made that same mistake.

Note...I'm not admonishing you as you only brought up the question. That said, look at the post directly after this one.

Are the Ukraine haters just former Trump supporters en masse? I supported Trump but also support Ukraine. If it isn't a big subset of Trump supporters who are they?

Another way to ask this....
If Trump were president and Putin were still too dense to constrain himself and he invaded Ukraine do you think Trump would support Ukraine? I do. Afterall, he sent them armaments while he was in office? if we would support Trump supporting Ukraine why can't we support them now? What does the name of our President have to do with our support of a Eastern European fledgling democracy with strategic oil and wheat production?

I dont think it matters who is the President. I support a Euro country over Putin's Russia. Any day. All day.

I disagree. The virtue signalers are being selfish; they just want attention. I think Jeselnik sums it up pretty nicely.

Acknowledging that Ukraine isn't perfect does not mean you support Russia

Supporting Trump and supporting Ukraine as it protects its borders, language, culture, and sovereignty mesh 100% with Trump's policies.

What doesn't mesh is the far left's stance on practically everything vs. their current cheerleading for Ukraine.

It's only logical to welcome the hand of support from the left while simultaneously leaning around and trying to figure out what they've got in the other hand behind their back.

Conservatives and liberals can be on the same side of an issue. It used to happen all the time.

In these dozens of efforts to conflate a global crisis with conservative foot-stomping issues, the most (and maybe only) applicable one is being left out.

You could actually get traction out of a Second Amendment discussion, citing that armed citizens are putting up an effective defense against a superpower. It's a great opportunity to combat arguments that the language of the Second Amendment is antiquated or irrelevant in modern warfare.

Seems like a missed opportunity.

They are clearly conditioning people for war. Just furthering the mass psychosis by media and social media. Military grade mind games being played.

Don't think so. This would mean an election day rout. Any war in Eastern Europe would be VERY unpopular. Extremely unpopular. And they don't trust Biden to wage it. Seems like shallow analysis.
