The curriculum should be available to the public.

If any of these concepts are taught, the Aggie community should make its opinions heard. A&M should not embrace regressive racism as a supposed way to promote inclusion.

I have access and can let you know.

If any of THOSE things are taught, this would qualify as CRT and be an issue.

This is ridiculous. What percentage of athletes at A&M are white versus the population at large? Athletics are the LAST place pure merit is a thing. Because that favors non-whites, I guess it's OK.

Athletics is not pure merit either. Coaches have pre-conceived biases that influence who they recruit/draft. That is how the NFL goes 2 decades without a non-black CB/NB. If Christian McCaffrey's dad hadn't been a relatively recent Pro Bowl player it is doubtful anyone would know his name because of the position he plays.

This is one more example where Tucker is shown to be right.

CRT and the racism it attempts to engrain in our free society is more problematic to my family than Putin.

The best students and the best athletes have a very small intersection. If only we recruited the best students. If only companies hired and promoted the best employees. Surely it was a mistake on your part to attempt to imply this initiative has something to do with recruiting the best students.

I think the goal of sports is to win, so that's probably a hard no.

LOL

My Sr yr in HS was the first year of "no pass, no play". When all of the starters failed (4 black, 1 white), we had a better record versus the same teams.

Athleticism was down but game IQ and give-a-**** was way up.

As for this idiotic move by A&M....par for the course.

This is not very high on my give a damn list.

If these hand-holding sessions keep athletes from repeating the lie on Twitter about A&M being racist, that is a good thing.
LOL, the goal of these sessions is just to make sure they see racism even when there is none. Aggie Smollett will probably be hired to teach victimhood, even if you have to fabricate it.

Yes, you were given preferential admission to this university and a full ride scholarship because you can play a sport, but you're still a victim anyway.

I'm pretty sure there's several lawsuits that disprove the "best" students want to learn about CRT

Yes. Please expound. I'm genuinely curious.

Posters often like to complain about the lack of discourse on TAs, yet we get posts like these without any explanation.

You've posted elsewhere since typing "good." Why don't you take time to answer what you think is good about it?

I'm not the one throwing temper tantrum about never giving athletics another dime on a Texas A&M sports board that happens to have a highly divisive politics forum (that is often the antithesis of everything A&M stands for today).

If student athletes, many of which are minorities, and athletics leadership think it's a good idea then good for them. I'm going out on a limb that Department knows more about student athletes than a bunch of complainers who say they're not giving any more money to University.

I quit buying season tickets in 2016 because I felt the product on the field didn't deserve my money and I had other competing interests for my time. However, I continued contributing to the 12MF because I had pledged to the Kyle Field redevelopment plan, and I wanted to support the overall program.

At the end of 2020 when I made my annual contribution I included the message that I didn't appreciate our student athletes calling a bunch of us old white guys paying the bills as racists. I added they we don't donate because we have to, but because we want to. The AD and the 12MF did a piss poor job of handling the situation at Sully. Kellen Mond never apologized to the people that were his meal ticket that he insulted. So F that guy.

At this point that continued support is in question.

I have a feeling neither OP nor anyone angry about this have any idea what this move by the athletic department even means. They just see buzzwords like diversity and flip out and assume all the athletes are going to get lectured about the evils of whiteness or something.

Just being divisive for no reason.

Are we acknowledging or giving preferential treatment?

I would say the Sully protests where our athletes, funded by our donations, called us old white dudes and racists were pretty divisive and pushed from the left and non-whites, unless you call standing in the way of people trying to destroy property divisive.
