Not really familiar with Preston Stewart but this seemed a very honest review of the Ukrainian offensive.

He reviews an article published about the offensive. According to the authors of the article (link in video):

The Ukrainians did attempt a massive push but it was stopped by the Russians at the start of the offensive. The offensive was hampered by Ukraine's inability to coordinate above the Battalion level resulting in poorly coordinated assaults that resulted in heavy causalities of personnel and equipment. The offensive has now ground down to a battle of attrition being fought at platoon and company level maneuvers. Here the Ukrainians have an advantage but are often fighting "Z storm" units comprised of convicts (the Russians themselves view these units as "expendable infantry units"). The final conclusion was that a newest, shiniest weapon system (currently F16s) is unlikely to change much on the front line. The war will be won by who is better supplied by the "non glamourous" systems like artillery shells, ammunition, night vision optics, etc. Russia has been ramping up production of these types of items. What remains to be seen is how long Western countries will continue to support Ukraine.

This is 100 percent false, and has been throughout the war, fyi.
Hey comrade. They literally have video of prisoners being taking from those regions.

I am not sure of the percentage now but in 2020ish I believe 70% of Russia's deep sea fleet was based out of Sevastopol. It was one of the main reasons they took Crimea.

Russia went from doing what they wanted in Sevastopol, to installing countermeasures, and once they get in range of ground based artillery they will have to add more defenses to the area. Russia's missile defense systems are not living up to their hype which is a huge issue for them
can anyone explain why the Russians have left Kilo class subs in Sevastopol

AFTER they know that the Ukes have been receiving advanced NATO cruise missiles?

Port facilities and support infrastructure. These ships were in dry dock, so whatever work was being done may not have been possible in Novorossiysk.

I would take any claim of this with a massive grain of salt. We've heard ridiculous claims of 70 T-90's produced per month among others yet nothing seen to that effect in the field or in maps.

The Russians also don't have a 'plethora' of winter dry dock facilities for large vessels.

This vid down below discusses limited dry dock facilities and shows some good visuals of the dry dock area and ship classes.

1.25 speed is good. Orcs also have an underground complex which I believe has been expanded in the last few years to the south. This is a pic to at least one entrance.

Sounds like an addition to 11KIA 31WIA in the initial missile strike there was a red on red firefight in which 3 military and 1 police officer were killed in confusion over saboteurs near the dry dock. In one of the videos you can hear what sounds like gunfire among the secondary's.

This is the link to the write up of what I described above.

Cracks widening in CSTO? Pashinyan is the Armenian PM. They've had beefs with Azerbaijan. This could strain Russia's resources and be a distraction.

Russia can't afford to keep losing artillery systems and radars, for sure, and that is what Ukraine has been particularly focusing on. Also strategic targets. Russia had more to target and lose and less technical ability to protect them.

As long as the west is providing superior artillery and counterbattery systems and battlefield intelligence for targeting, Russia will have an increasing problem, because defense relies heavily on artillery to prevent enemy attacks from forming up.

Nice tactical and strategic update.

Did you read his post? Obviously, since 2022 they have been recruiting/conscripting folks from around Moscow.

This would probably be better than F16s. But I'm not opposed to both.

They are pretty similar for what Ukraine is using them for and an upgrade from most of the operational MIGs they have. The Gripens used to be a lot more cost effective but not sure about all of the variants

Agreed. I meant better for Ukraine regarding cost effectiveness, maintenance, and training. As well as them most likely being newer aircraft not as reliant on multiple upgrades like the F-16s.

Downside is F-16s should be more compatible with coveted western weapons.

Here's the source article, which I linked here back when it first came out.

After an initial failed attempt to use armor to bullrush the primary Russian defensive line in the south, Ukraine paused to reassess and defaulted to a war of attrition, which has advantages and disadvantages for both sides.

Ukraine is now using attritional warfare to first weaken the Russian defenses, disrupt their logistics and supporting artillery fires and then move methodically thru the minefields to attack with infantry supported by armor, rather than vice versa.

The result has been steady, if unspectacular progress, with Ukraine recently penetrating the primary and strongest Russian defensive line and advancing to the second line of fortifications in some locations.

Meanwhile, the EU recently approved and centrally funded a major expansion of munitions production in nations across Europe, the US has similarly begun investing billions in expanded production and Russia is so concerned about its production that it has resorted to begging North Korea for munitions.

Who had on their bingo card when this war began:

"Russia losing a nuclear submarine, it's largest Cruiser, most of it's attack helicopter fleet, dozens of fighter and bomber aircraft, 200,000 casualties and many of its advanced SAM units"

You forgot
  • Lost as much land as it took.
  • Is relying on convicts and murderers to slow the changing tide of war.
  • Can't defend Moscow or St. Petersburg from air threats.
  • Is begging other countries for weapons and assistance.

The video in the link below shows the artillery hit from the tweet above at 45 seconds. Focuses on that hit more specifically.
