Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Ukraine in interference with Russian communication satellites, calls it unprecedented violation of international law

The satellites themselves?
Yes, our GPS system and their Glonass system are targets for disruption. This affects guided weapons primarily, though I recognize some think the Russians are (solely) trying to terrorize civilians (and at times this has definitely been the case).

This is considered basically 'normal' warfare nowadays I guess:

Quote:

WASHINGTON: The Russian military's jamming of GPS signals and communications satellites in Ukraine is considered by the US government as essentially a routine wartime activity, according to a senior State Department official.

Judging from actual real world actions during recent conflicts around the globe, Washington and Moscow appear to be on the same page with this issue a good thing for avoiding conflict between the two nuclear powers. But there may be a growing disconnect between the two sides on the question of satellite interference outside of direct conflict, with a senior Russian official earlier this month making the surprising claim that doing so is an act of war.

During a March 17 virtual conversation at the National Security Space Association,Eric Desautels, acting deputy assistant secretary for emerging security challenges and defense policy in State's Arms Control, Verification and Compliance bureau, explained that the US military has its own jamming capabilities for use in conflict zones.

"For example, the United States has our own communications jammer known as the CCS system," he said. "We think that jamming is probably a normal part of conflict."

CCS is the Space Force's Counter Communications System, a mobile communications satellite jammer built by L3Harris and first fielded in 2004. The system has been upgraded routinely over the last 20 years, with the latest upgrade, called Block 10.2, declared operational in March 2020.
It would be a bit surprising if this stuff was…not targeted for jamming. Frankly, SpaceX has gotten a lot of credit for providing the connectivity the Ukrainians have relied on (including for offensive drones/operations for a while) but this is attributable to the fact that it is a new, low earth orbit constellation (a few hundred miles instead of around 12,000 miles up like GPS, making them a much different signal/band/speed to jam).

A quick note about those mine clearing lines. Russia was using them earlier in the war as a force multiplier in urban combat settings. They were using them to take out entire city blocks.

Russia just trying to further get peoples' undies in a twist in the USA. Their incessant screeching doesn't even register any more. They're going to do exactly nothing about it as long as events continue on their current trajectory. No pearls should be clutched.

If Russia was in an "hot conflict" with us they wouldn't say it, they'd know it and it wouldn't be pretty for them. Expect the usual suspects to increase their squealing as the expected counter offensive approaches.

Reminds me of this from over six months ago. "A joke from Moscow: According to Putin, the special military operation is really a conflict btw Russia and NATO about world dominance. What's the situation now? Russia has lost 15000 troops, 6 generals, 500 tanks, 3 ships, 100 planes and 1000 trucks. NATO hasn't even arrived yet."

If Russia thinks this is a hot war, I'd love to see their reaction when we give it a full go.

This is why we've been very careful not to enable attacks deeper within Russia itself. They know how weak and hollow their military reality is now that most of its ready capability has been picked over and fed into Ukraine. Their only real defense is subtle threats of WMD involvement and accusing NATO members of being more directly involved to explain away troubles in the war to its own citizens and try to deter NATO based support for Ukraine.

Russia could be a great beneficiary of closer and friendly economic relations with its European neighbors to the west but it instead decides to always be belligerent and hostile and controlling.

I've seen plenty of documented occasions in WWII where the U.S. Army used self-propelled 155mm howitzers as door knockers in urban battles.

Honestly, using a MCLC-type thing in urban ops is a pretty effective, if nasty, tactic, especially if the defended buildings still have glass in the windows. The blast wave will create a ton of flying glass in any room facing the explosion.

Surprised the NYT is reporting on it. They usually prefer to run their own stories that damage American interests using leaked top secret data from confidential sources.
