If there was ever a great time to launch an attack with western thermal optics…but it would have had to have been well prepared and planned.

Yeah no drones or any air support will be up. You could walk right over and jump in the same trench as the enemy. This does however work both ways so who will be more motivated to do so.

I wonder if a few more of these systems will be eliminated just before the UKR offensive.

One year ago, Russians were busily massacring hundreds of civilians in Bucha.

Since most of the battles lately are lobbing artillery and trench warfare this is to be expected. Lots of plastic surgery due to shrapnel.

Six meters wide. 30 meters long. Seven days of continuous fighting for this small piece of Ukrainian land. Today we publish the continuation of the battle for one of our battalion's positions.
The battle for the "T-shape". PART TWO. The fight back
As a reminder, more than 30 russian soldiers attacked the T-shape position. Eight of our comrades in the trenches fought an unequal battle. Most of the enemy group was destroyed. However, the occupiers came close to the trenches.
The reserve of our battalion is supposed to turn the tide of the battle, and it is already hurrying to support us.

At least one survivor in trench. Orcs end up taking the trench the following night but lose it again a day or two later. More videos coming out from same T section.

Any idea what happens at 2:02? don't think it's an artillery shell, almost looks like an AT-4 type round fired by the Ruskies on the Ruskies?

Not sure, could be. It could also be an anti-personnel round from the Uke armor coming up from the rear that does most of the damage towards the end.

Half the time I was trying to figure out who was who, I don't see how they can ID who is shooting without seeing an arm band without knowing that the people attacking are from the other side. There has to be a lot of blue on blue in this war

Katyushas should be pretty decent.
Not much has changed between those and the BM-21s and older Smerch systems (other than the range of the rockets).
Now whether those vehicles are roadworthy, that's a different story
Also, don't want to be anywhere around when the rocket explodes on the launcher :-)

IMO its artillery air burst from the Ukes and I think its 155M maybe not out of the M777 and maybe not manufactured by us but western the only reason I thought that is because of the accuracy. In part 1 there are at least 1 maybe 2 more shots just like this on the other tree line on the larger group. The trench was about to get over run. There is also in part 1 a shot by the russians into a tree with their version of the Law/AT RPG18 or 22 as shown at 2:12 of this video below. You can see the back blast from the ORC who fires it. He reloads or is about to fire again when the direct hit ground burst negates the shot at 3:41.

I will create separate post but it looks like brand new video out of this same spot but now the orcs are defending the T against Uke Armor and it does not go well for orcs.

MORE INSANE FOOTAGE from the T just posted last couple hours. 2 tanks supported by 30MM armor.
First couple minutes the 30MM keeps the orcs head down in the trench. They do get one anti tank munition off but it misses 4:00.

Nailed it ..the video also shows it in slow motion, and after looking at it carefully, you are correct it does appear to be an air burst

take a step back

and look at the insanity of ONE tiny trench 75 yards long in the middle of miles of open fields on every side

that's like a horror movie

it goes to show the massive disparity between what is going on in Ukraine in 2023 -versus what was going on across the Eastern Front in 1943 when there were thousands of miles of trenches and millions of soldiers manning them on both sides.

Insane, also shows how effective trenches are though.
The T-72 had to come within what 15 yards before blowing them up.
The Ruskies were certainly deaf and possibly disoriented long before that.

You are correct it is horrifying and I hate seeing it but I remind myself these are combatants and one side has invaded the other while committing the same violence on civilians. They will make a movie of this one day and its my prayer that the Ukrainians get to script it.

As much as I am moved by the combat vid I shared I was also moved by the faces of the leaders witnessing the horrors of Bucha, even after the worst scenes were already cleaned up.

I thought I saw a white flag waving behind a tree almost at the end but can't be sure. Hard to surrender to a tank though.

Was that the orcs trying to wave a white flag around 8:20-8:45?

Zero combined arms, zero armed drones, no artillery. If this is such a highly contested area why are there so little resources from both sides? This area has changed hands several times the past few weeks yet you have a handful of Russians and 3 armoured Uke vehicles trying to get it back which they do.

Lol at the Russian throwing a grenade at a T72 tank which ends up exposing exactly where they are in the trench. Looks like they missed the tank earlier with an RPG7 which actually could have done something but a grenade landing in front of the tank is like trying to take one down with a BB gun.

T72 tanks have "terminator rounds" which are airburst rounds versus standard rounds that are almost useless against a trench unless you are parallel with it. The T72 has at least one machine gun which could keep the Russian's heads down until you get into the correct position instead of wasting a dozen rounds that at best are cutting down trees. You know that the Russians have some kind of anti-tank weapon so keeping their heads down is important.

Did they say what aircraft? Article did seem to suggest these are 500 or 1000lb JDAMs.
I doubt Mig-29s can carry anything more than 500lb JDAMs.

I don't think the Ukes have anything that can carry 2000lb JDAMs (i.e. i don't think Su-27 or Mig29s have pylons stressed for that load).

Unrelated:
this war continues to give us some surreal videos:

Yes I think very possibly white flag at end of trench (very small) but not at 8:20-8:40 I think that is garbage tarp. Hard to tell for us and no way tank would have ever seen it and besides his buddies were chunking grenades.

At very beginning I though orc running back to trench was OP carrying binos, but now think it was a roll of TP.

Arty and mortars were being used I just don't know by whom for sure. Mostly likely both I think the big rounds further away are UKE combination of ground and air but there is at least one heavy mortar or light arty that lands in front of tank at 7:00 mark.
