I've seen plenty of reports similar to this to trust that the Russian civ population mass exodus in Crimea is ongoing. This certainly has First Battle of Bull Run vibes.

A former lowly enlisted grunt. We have quite a few veterans that frequent here which is awesome for the different perspectives and insight. We have several officers, active and retired, representing things like CAS, artillery, logistics, etc, and I think at least one infantry officer somewhere. Quite a collected depth of knowledge that pertains to this current conflict, especially for a forum thread of a sports site from a plucky little farming school.
USMC 1803 Assault Amphibian Vehicle officer (1975 -81) here. I really enjoy this discussion.

Nice! So we got our Mech/Assault base covered then. YATYAS!

I think we have most, of the major fields of war covered then by posters and definitely some experts in that pool. Anything artillery related for example, Ulysses90 can break it down for us. Who I also met in a bizarre coincidence over 20 years ago when he presented the folded American flag of my uncle who was MIA since '75, to my grandmother. Had no idea at the time that the man in the Marine Officer uniform performing his solemn duty to perfection would one day be explaining artillery fundamentals to me on a sports site of a school I had barely heard of back then and now proudly wear the Ring of.

I think the one major area I have not seen yet by someone here would be Navy surface warfare. So if anyone here served in that capacity, feel free to chime in! We can then pester you with questions on your take on how Russia has been doing in the Black Sea.

Wow. It's strange how our paths crossed so long ago. I had forgotten that we met that day but I remember the day well.

Your uncle was Lcpl Andres Garcia who was among those Marines killed on Koh Tang Island during the attempt to rescue the crew of the SS Mayaguez in 1975.

https://www.honorstates.org/index.php?id=273709

The funeral was the Friday before Memorial Day in 2000 and after 25 years of being MIA, Lcpl Garcia's remains had been identifed and returned home to Carlsbad, NM. His parents and (IIRC) all eight siblings were still alive and present. The church was overflowing and people were stanning outside. The whole town of Carlsbad lined the streets as the hearse moved from the church to the cemetery. There were honor guards present at the cemetery from my I&I Staff in El Paso, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. It was unlike any funeral I had ever attended because everyone ha mourned his death for 25 years and this was truly a celebration of his homecoming.

EX USN Fire controlman here (NEC 1102/1111). I've been lurking. Haven't seen a lot to comment about, but will relate one story:

I was in a briefing a long time ago when that cruiser "Moscow / Muskva" was new. The briefing officer basically commented on the huge amount of ordinance they had in weapons / stored topside, and how it would eventually come back to bite them in the ass. Apparently it did.

Well I can address any UCMJ violations... USMC Legal guy 91-95. My buddy that was in the wing and I often debate on who's job was easier. The best four years of my life though.

More footage of russian signal CP hit with some great comments:

"I must say it's terribly sporting of the Russians to provide these video battle damage assessments."
"I always find it funny when you see this level of destruction, and you hear birds singing. You realise that the earth doesn't really care about our bull*****
Everyone can die and the earth keeps spinning.
Go home orcs."
"@33-44 seconds in: those look like COPE-CUBES! The same radar reflectors they use near the Kerch bridge..."

Here is what was not shown in this video. I believe this was an R-439-MD2 Satcom Station. To date only 3 have been shown to have been destroyed. Again this was a valuable strike by UKR. Its the BTR variant next to the smoked car.

Ammo Dumps & CPs getting hit by HIMARS, meanwhile poor INF getting the cheap grenades dropped from cheap drones.

Actually not a bad defense if the drone operator is trying to drop a grenade on your head. Keep moving, change directions. Now, if there was combined arms forcing the orc to keep his head down while also being assailed from above, he'd be in a real world of hurt

I wasn't saying the Ruskie was dumb- he was damn smart about what he did. Just saying that if he lives, he will never be the same and will have uncontrollable spasms in his colon whenever he sees a drone for the rest of his life.

Thanks for sharing ... the WaPo article was excellent indeed.

Confirmed my deepest suspicion. Moscow is an echo chamber. This isn't Putin's war and it didn't start 6 months ago. This is Russia's war and It started in 2014 ... and it won't end if Putin leaves.

So what is going on here? Russia drops the Nazi, Nazi, Nazi lines?
Quote:

Sergei Aksyonov, Russia's top official in the illegally-annexed Crimean peninsula, claimed on Wednesday that Russian FSB security forces have "neutralized" an Islamist terrorist cell.

Russia's statements and the timing of the arrest implied, without stating outright, that these terrorists could have been responsible for the destruction of an ammunition depot in Crimea on Tuesday.
Quote:

"All of them are detained. The activities of the terrorists were coordinated, as one would expect, from the territory of the terrorist state of Ukraine," Aksyonov said.

Russian state media quoted the FSB describing the six detainees as "belonging to a conspiratorial cell of a terrorist organization," specifically Hizb ut-Tahrir.

The FSB repeated Aksyonov's accusation that "Ukrainian emissaries" gave the cell its marching orders. Russian state media quoted the FSB claiming it seized "propaganda materials, communications equipment and digital storage devices that were used in their terrorist activity" from the suspects.
Quote:

Hizb ut-Tahrir is an Islamist organization that is banned in Russia, but legal in Ukraine. The Russians launched a perpetual crackdown on Hizb ut-Tahrir after they annexed Crimea in 2014, accusing dozens of Crimean Tatars of joining the group and plotting terrorist attacks, often with very flimsy evidence.

I'm sure they have somebody custody. I doubt it's actually who they claim or anyone that did what they claim. Or they would have already paraded them for the world to see.

Nothing more than lying to try and fake some sort of competency to their citizens who just got bent over.

I'm on my phone so it's not the easiest to link to but there is a retired green beret that went over to Ukraine a few months ago to deliver aid and is now there helping to clear mines from farms so they can start producing food again. With just 3 people they are pulling up over 130 mines a day that are able to be reused against Russia

The attack on the airport on the opening day of the war was a complete route of the RuZZians.

So glad that Ukraine was prepared and decimated them.
